Well, I'm a KCBS member now. I didn't realize there was one closer to me than in Tampa....I'll be there shortly.

Congrats on the KCBS membership. You won't be disappointed in the RD I assure you.

Just don't forget to wear your cold weather gear when you go to RD. Or you can borrow their community jackets ( I don't recommend). I wore shorts and a tee shirt and was running around shivering  like a drug addict needing a fix while I was trying to pick out ribs.

For me, KCBS was $35 down the tubes. Joined a couple of years ago just for the RD pass. Went there once, froze my butt off in the fridge, bought absolutely nothing (wasn't even particularly tempted) and never went back. Glanced through the KCBS newsletter once and found it of no interest. After that, it went directly into the recycle bin.

If it works for you, great. It didn't for me. I doubt I would go there again even if I could get in for free. I mean, I paid for a pass and I STILL didn't go. Shouldn't have joined.

Yet another case of letting this forum convince me that I HAD to have something. I have finally overcome that (I think), but not before I bought a second egg, a DigiQ, a Maverick, a KCBS membership and who knows what else. Purchases I wish I hadn't made. At least I never bought an AR! Sounds like a great product... but I can't imagine why I'd ever need or want one.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

@sgh  I was stumped.  Not sure where to start, so much to choose from.
having 3 teenage boys might help justify the large packs. Any suggestions for first choice?
Luckily its only 5 minute ride,

Luckily its only 5 minute ride,

Me personally, I go straight to the seafood section. Oysters are priority then the beef isle. Take your time and tour the whole place if this is your first visit. There will be things that catch your eye that you will want in the future as well. I always check out the cheese while there as well.

  • 5 pound blocks of white American cheese are great for cheese dip.

They keep the store at 35 degrees. They use it as the refrigeration system.

  • For what is worth they also have good prices on some non food items. I pick up food safe gloves and cheap cloth towels there.
