A question for the pizza gurus out there. Have you ever heard of a Mona Lisa? Not the lady made famous by Leonardo da Vinci in the portrait but a pizza concoction. I met my wife for dinner today at a pizza buffet and there it was bigger than Billy be frigged. The Mona Lisa. When I say that it was incredible that's a vast understatment to say the least. It's like a cross between a taco and a pizza. I did a forum search and it didn't come up. Just curious if anyone else is familar with it and is it known by another name. I would have took a pic but I left my phone in the truck and we was pressed for time. If anyone has a recipe for it would you share? Also real curious if others are familar with it? I wasn't. But it was outstanding nonetheless. I did Google it and like most things 10 billion different things came up. That's why I posed the question here, hoping that someone had a good sure fire method for making one. Thanks in advance my friends.

I had never heard of it either. When it comes to food I thought I had heard of about everything. However I was wrong. Today I had Mona Lisa and someone brought up "white hots" in another thread. I had never heard of either until today.

When I was a kid and worked at CiCi's Pizza, we served Taco Pizza. Basically, we sauced a very thin dough with a finely blended hot sauce, then topped it with ground beef. We then ran it through the oven 2/3 of the way. After it came out, we topped it with lettuce, cheddar cheese and sprinkled a lil more hot sauce on top.

When fresh, it was my favorite thing to eat there.

I'm going back tomorrow and am going to buy a few of them to go so I can dissect them for farther analysts. It's one of those things that I really liked and want to duplicate. Brother it was incredible.

I found many references to it but nothing regarding recipe or ingredients. All references tie to the buffet you ate at. Someone referred to it as this "nacho-salad/taco pizza contraption"

The Google machine has a Food Network recipe from some place that was on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Looks like a standard "supreme" pizza, not Taco.

This one other than shape doesn't look like a regular pizza at all. It's in a sort of shell if you will. I'm going to go get one and post a pic of it. All that aside, it's spectacular.

Never heard of it. Tonight I had some pizza dough left from the weekend but no pizza sauce or mozzarella. So I used salsa and some other grated cheese we had. It wasn't pizza, but it was good. :)

    Way to improvise brother W!!
On a seperate note my friend. I have noticed that you seem fond of the direct fired hog cookers. I have been working on a direct fired clone of a Meadows Creek hog cooker. About got it complete. Going to test fire it along with Unit #7. I will email you some good close ups of the direct fired unit. I made it out of 1/2 in plate instead of sheetmetal. That's almost double the wall thickness of Unit #6.

I will be interested to see it. I'm sure you know the Meadow Creek PR series do have a heat deflector that doubles as a drain pan for the fat drippings.

Yes sir. I went just a little different route though. I used a 1/8 plate for a top "shield" with 1/2 inch holes drilled in it to allow for a slow drip to the main catch/deflector below. The main is made out of the same 1/2 inch plate as the rest of the unit. I did this to cut down on the "steaming" affect elicited by the grease hitting the main. It has worked as I hoped thus far.
