Thanks! So are you saying it's fine to undo the carriage bolts even though they are bent? And then I can use them again? Because I did have an extra in my bag.

  • Yes- you can undo the carriage bolts and retighten.

Yes you can. Just check bands for tightness after a few cooks. I may settle in.

    Thanks! I'm golden now :)
  • Only the main band bolts are to be torqued down.  All clinch bolts are simply tightened snugly.

Ma'am if I may ask. Are you from the South? I only ask because I notice that like myself you use the word (y'all). Just curious my friend.

That's awesome. I'm glad that you adopted our vocabulary as well. Always nice to hear someone say (y'all & ain't). Kind of makes one feel at home as it were. Again welcome aboard and to the South my friend.

I'm from the West, and learned "Ain't" at a very young age.  While in the military, I spent 6 weeks in Texas and then 4.5 months in Biloxi, MS.  When I got back to CA, my friends told me I had picked up a southern accent.  After 3 decades, I have long since lost the accent, but I ain't dropped "Y'all" from my vocabulary.

I remember being told that as a yougster as well, but times have changed.

    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ain%27t

    ain't

    \ˈānt\

    Definition of AIN'T

1:  am not :  are not :  is not
2:  have not :  has not
3:  do not :  does not :  did not —used in some varieties of Black English

    Usage Discussion of AIN'T

Although widely disapproved as nonstandard and more common in the habitual speech of the less educated, ain't in senses 1 and 2 is flourishing in American English. It is used in both speech and writing to catch attention and to gain emphasis <the wackiness of movies, once so deliciously amusing, ain't funny anymore — Richard Schickel> <I am telling you—there ain't going to be any blackmail — R. M. Nixon>. It is used especially in journalistic prose as part of a consistently informal style <the creative process ain't easy — Mike Royko>. This informal ain't is commonly distinguished from habitual ain't by its frequent occurrence in fixed constructions and phrases <well—class it ain't — Cleveland Amory> <for money? say it ain't so, Jimmy! — Andy Rooney> <you ain't seen nothing yet> <that ain't hay> <two out of three ain't bad> <if it ain't broke, don't fix it>. In fiction ain't is used for purposes of characterization; in familiar correspondence it tends to be the mark of a warm personal friendship. It is also used for metrical reasons in popular songs <Ain't She Sweet> <It Ain't Necessarily So>. Our evidence shows British use to be much the same as American.

    Examples of AIN'T

    1. It's a free country, ain't it?
    2. Those people ain't got a clue.
    3. Her husband left and she ain't never been the same.

    Origin of AIN'T

    contraction of are not
    First Known Use: 1749

My dad's favorite example of how times have changed is he remembers when he was 10-12 years old and lived in Wash DC, he used to get on the bus with a 22 rifle to go shooting at the range.  No one on the bus would react like there was anything unusual going on.  Yep, the times are a changin' and I don't think it's always for the best.

In 1981 we could still have shot guns visible in the back glass of our 4 wheel drives and nothing would be said on campus. They changed very quickly however.
