Urgent help needed: just notice a hail storm smashed my thermometer glass
Zick
Posts: 190
Need to get ready for an overnight smoke and I just noticed the hail storm a couple of weeks ago broke the glass on the thermometer.
Questions:
Does it mean the thermometer won't work?
Would a Home Depot or lowes have one if I need to buy one tonight?
Thanks all!!!!

Stick it in boiling water and see what happens.

I dropped mine before my very first cook and it works fine, just calibrate it to make sure it is on target

I even lost it for a bit after my move. I cooked a few times overnight with no issues.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -
+1 on boiling in water to see if it'll work. If it's broke and no replacement available in your area, I'd use your food thermometer. Just check it occasionally by inserting the probe in the thermo hole. Once you get your vents set it should rock steady. I'd probably check it every hour once you get it stable. Good luckSteven

surprising how much we come to depend on our thermos. I once misplaced my thermapen and felt like a total rookie. Maybe the next throwdown should be an old school, no thermos, no maverick, hold-your-palm-over-the-lump-to-determine-temperature type cook.Signal Mountain, TN
