New double egg cabinet

Got rid of gas grill and added a medium (to go with my large), so... Just completed this outdoor cabinet. Built 3, 36", cabinets with steel studding, then concrete board, Air Stone, and granite came last week. Ready for low and slow this weekend, finally!

Nice - I assume this is a work in progress picture - I mean no bands or handles or did you paint them all green and we can't see them?

You did a phenomenal job! I really like how it looks as if it was always there and is complimentary to your home. Bravo!LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Air stone is made with pure, natural, fresh air with about 25% stone additives for structural rigidity and aesthetics.

Superb!I wanted to build something like your setup when I had my patio built, and then became somewhat intimidated by the project. Plus a baby happened! If I could pepper you with some questions, for my own enlightenment:-what type (galvanization) and gauge of steel stud did you use? Where did you find it?-what kind of screws did you use?- did you need a special blade for a chop saw to make the cuts?- what brand of steel doors/drawer did you buy?- did you build it on a TREX base or something?Thanks!#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

@caliking All the steel cabinet parts I actually bought as a kit from http://www.bbqcoach.com/modules.html. I modified them, but you'll get the idea. I did one straight module, two open egg kits, and backsplash. The door/drawer unit came from BBQGuys.com (Kingston Panel series). As a hobby woodworker, I had all the tools needed! The decking surface is Cumaru, as is the frame you see around the egg openings. Someday soon I'll be creating the door panel inserts to match.

very nice job!!! I want to build something liek that on my deck but I will have to reinforce the joists I think because I want to put it on the end of a cantilevered part of my deck. Not impossible but it will take some planning. @logsend do you have an approximate weight of the materials and eggs on the finished project? Did you have any concerns on the weight on the deck? I have a trex deck I built in 04' and I think I could pull something like that off with the proper planning.
Great job!!!!

I don't actually know what it weighs! Heaviest parts, besides the EGGs of course, are the granite and cement backer board. Mine sits across 8" joists there, so I'm not too worried about it.

I have to say, out of all the tables that I have seen built and posted on here, that has to be the nicest one to date. Good on ya for having the skillset and foresight to tackle the job. Make a couple of those a year and you got yourself a nice little side business. Im sure you could sell a couple a year at least.
-
@logsend - those are the modules I was considering too. Thanks for the info. And you have a beautiful egg spot. I could live on your deck!#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
