How to Julienne an Onion
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

hmmm, maybe when I grow up one hand will trust the other better than now! No way could I go that fast without losing some serious skin and blood! LOL
-
No kidding! I'd have cut up to my elbows by now if I tried that. Even the first half of the vid was amazing!!! The last bit was not humanly possible!

Reminds me of Martin Yan. He can chop fast and never even look at his hands only at the audience.Large, small and mini now Egging in Rowlett Tx

I can do that.

I just did it this evening. But it took me as long as his first demo, not his second! Onion tasted the same though.

@Carolina Q
I had to google "Julienne". That's impressive to say the least. I would have a better chance of fighting a chainsaw and not getting cut than attempting that with a knife.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.
Status- Standing by.
The greatest barrier against all wisdom, the stronghold against knowledge itself, is the single thought, in ones mind, that they already have it all figured out. -
I just watched the vid again. When I julienned this evening, I did NOT do it as fast as his "slow" demo. But I still think it tasted as good.

Here's MY take on that video:Martha Stewart has been slicing her onions like that for years! I guess you guys weren't around for daytime TV, so you're excused.And the second part was obviously speeded up for effect.Judy in San Diego

Took me awhile to learn the "claw" grip. If the knife blade is wide enough, you can press the blade against your knuckles continuously, making it possible to cut without looking, only by touch. But I can't move nearly as fast as the video guy.
Here are a few links from a knife nut who is something of a show off.
First one has a rude gesture in it, but amazed me when I saw it. Initially there wasn't the slow discussion of how he did it, just the quick trick.

Always enjoyed watching The French Chef. Julia Child was often criticized for hygiene in the kitchen or the lack thereof. She was fun to watch. :-) And in fact Martha Stewart has said she was deeply influenced by Julia Child so ya probably got something there @Skiddymarker ;-) I'd pay good money to watch a live show with both Julia Child & Bob Ross. Julia could do her famous lobster show and Bob could do an interpretation painting of the "Happy" Lobster. I loved watching both of those shows. :-)
