@Foghorn If you like it, that's all that counts.  I will vouch for the Whistle Pig but can't comment on the Irish Whiskey.  Trust you enjoyed.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

I was told that the Boss Hog bottle cost him $400 but that some have been sold for over $1000 because it is rare - and good.  I am a whiskey novice but it was quite good.

The Irish Whiskey was very interesting.  Very full of flavor, yet quite smooth - at 116 proof.

Collectively they were potentially dangerous because they were easier to drink than many lower proof selections (like Angels Envy, 4 Roses Single Barrel, Woodford Reserve - all of which I've had at some point over the past month)...

I see the Boss Hog regularly here in ATL for about $450 or so. I have not tried it but wondered if it is worth 5 times the cost of the 10 or 12 year old WP.

I'm a big whiskey fan but just not big on either the Canadian or Irish offerings. Don't get me wrong, I'll drink them but only purchase it for others. I support the bourbon/rye and scotch industry heavily.

I wish I could answer that question, but I'm just getting started in tasting whiskey.  Having me drink stuff this good is like casting pearls before swine.

I can't speak for the Boss Hog but can recommend the WP Old World. It is not at the same octane as the Boss Hog, but at 80 proof it is really a nice tasting bottle of whisky. In the FL panhandle it will run $120 - $130 per bottle.

Nice haul, personally like the Antique over the 12. And the McKenna is a hidden jewel for the price point.

Have you tried any of the single malt Irish offerings? If not, I would recommend you give it a try.

I recommend Bushmills Single Malt 16 or 21. Both are really good but there is a price point difference of $40-$50. Bushmills also offers a 10 or 12 but I have never tried. IMO, if you enjoy a nice single malt scotch then the Irish experience will also be enjoyable.

The A119 just got released around here.  Certain stores will get 6 bottles and it's gone in a day once word gets out.  My first time trying it.  Decided to splurge on it, from positive reviews, and liking the standard small batch.  It's very good.  Highly recommended.  I bought two bottles for me and one for a good friend's 50th birthday in June.

You are not the first to mention this to me. A local scotch drinking buddy has also mentioned the "spot" offerings. I shall have to give them a whirl. They have them at a local Irish bar / Mexican restaurant I frequent. I'll have to avoid ordering the Lagavulin 16 they offer though. cheers!
