Good deal?

Fwd: SOUS VIDE SUPREME - $300
http://nashville.craigslist.org/hsh/4221869625.html
Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN

Comments

  • 3 things
    1.  The Demi is on sale this week for 200
    2. the Supreme has a tank cooking capacity of 10 liters
    3. The Anova says it will work clamped onto a tank up to 22 liters

Looks like Anova($200) still is the best deal as far as capacity

    That's a crap deal.

I bought a SVS Demi for $200 on sale a few months ago. Even though the Anova unit was more appealing in some ways (built in circulator, larger capacity depending on what size tub you use), I opted for the SVS Demi since it was a one-piece unit, compact, and I actually had a little counter space for it. Things that get stashed away in my kitchen or pantry don't get used very often because i have the attention span of a gnat. I wanted something out in the open, which I would see every day  and thus be inspired to use more frequently. I wouldn't have been able to leave the Anova and its bigger tub in a place where i would see it regularly.

Ok, I've been drinking and now I'm looking at Anova's website... Hope someone here will get a commision if I order one. Anyone have a spare cot for when SWMBO notices the credit card statement?

I have the same one and it works great. I would offer him $250 and that's a heck of a deal with the vacuum sealer. Looks like its about $500 on amazon.

I understand completely. My Anova sits on the counter, takes up about the same space as a coffee mug, just taller. The tub is the stock pot I need to hold whatever is being trés booblayed, those I go set when I need one.
The demi and supreme have nice internal racks, but the one I looked at does not circulate the water, nonetheless they do provide great temp control.
I don't think you can beat the Anova, it seems to be well built when compared to a Polyscience (also very good) and it is $200, maybe <$250 with tax and shipping depending on where you live.

Apparently PolyScience is trying to be competitive with all the SV peeps entering the market.

I have the Chef Series and love it to pieces. ACTUALLY, IT FREAKIN ROCKS!!!!!

It's great that there are more options out there now, but I'd jump on the Discovery before anything else out there.

I will just flat out say, I'm stupid jealous of henapple's man cave! I really should have taken pics of it as the ones he's posted doesn't do it justice.

This guy has a huge prep table with room for 10 Sous Vide Surpremes, a commercial dual sink with crazy hot water, soap/paper towel dispenser, fridge loaded with PBR, Spice rack and it has its own private entrance. If Sherry wants something, she actually calls him instead of walking over. =))

When I grow up, I want something just like that as it would make the wife happy. He doesn't have to go into the house for anything.

BOTTOM LINE, HENAPPLE'S MAN CAVE FREAKIN ROCKS!!!!!
