Interesting how there have been over 700 views of @Charlesmaneri's post about his dog dying, but only 200+ views of @parallel's dad dying. Over 60 comments wishing Charles condolences, yet only 10 wishing P.
This is more of a social study based on the title of each post, not having anything to do with the members of the forum.
Charles' title is obvious about his dog passing (and again, very sorry to hear). Parallel's title is about needing motorcycle therapy. If you are cruising the forum, you may not be interested in motorcycle therapy. I know I wasn't until I was just out of posts to click on.
60+ comments to Charles for his dog, 10 to Parallell for his dad. Again, I think this has to do more with the title, not the forum members. It's just interesting to me.
Any thoughts or am I just overthinking the whole thing?

I think you are right Chris. Everyone knows what Charles is going through from the title. With Parallell it isn't as obvious from the title.
Overall I think as a group we are a sympathetic bunch.Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's -
I agree with you. I didn't read about Parallel's post because have no interest in motorcycles.

Astute observation Chris. The members on this forum are probably fairly representative of our society as a whole, in that we are sympathetic to both members loss, but we are conditioned from birth to respond to the "desired' marketing twist of a subject. Not necessarily what you say, more how you say it. Perception is reality.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I've known the pain of both. It can cast a dark pall over my day if I allow it. I prefer to avoid reliving those moments of loss altogether so I stay out of a thread like that when I can. Perhaps I am weak in that way.

If you don't think too good, don't think too much.

IMHO when someone loses a pet it is easier to extend condolences. When someone loses a close relative it is harder to chose the words.

I had no idea that the motorcycle therapy had to do with the loss of his dad. I wouldn't hvae read it had you not said something.
