Has anyone used the grate racks that mount onto the nest to hold your grates or plate setter. If so did you like them and would you recommend getting them?

When you buy the grate racks do they come as a pair? Any suggestions on where to purchase them?

That is the number one reason for having a second Large.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

I purchased the Grate Rack for the XL from Country Stove and Patio. http://www.countrystoveandpatio.com/shop/big-green-egg-grate-racks/ It attaches to the nest, and does hold the grate as advertised. It needs to be mounted at the back of the nest, and there is some interference from the hinge, but it does work, and I use it. It will also hold the CGS 17 1/2" Ceramic Stone that I use for indirect cooks. I doubt it would hold the plate setter. If you sense that I'm not overwhelmingly sold on this rack, you would be correct. Prior to using the rack, I used the concrete deck, and that works too. I have two on the sides of my Large nest and the work great for both grates and plate setter.Marietta, East Cobb, GA

I checked out the link and it says you can't use them in conjunction with the side shelves. That's where I really wanted to put them. I fear that if I were to mount it in the front that I would end up burning myself. Anyone use them with the shelves? Also it says it attaches to the nest in the existing holes. Although I have the nest with the 4 inch casters it only has one set of wholes. I had to drill additional holes for my nest handler. Not sure which nest they refer to in the add

I have no idea what these look like, but the Google image search on "Grate Racks" is verrryy intriguing."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

I take it that you don't want any children in the room when you do that search?

BTW, I'm also interested to know if the racks will work on the side if you have the shelves.

I hang my grate off my shelves using an S hook. Same with my Woo. I bought 2.5" medium hooks as they are easier to work with compared to the small hooks BGE provides.Cooking on an XL and Medium in Bethesda, MD.

I also hang my grate off the shelves, but I am interested in using the rack to store my plate setter.

Here is the website; http://innovationsbychance.com/grate-rack-lights.html The Egg dealer in Richmond carries them. You get one, not two. Yes it will hold the plate setter nicely.

Here's some pics of mine. Shelves up, shelves down, no problem. The platesetter is on the right and my swing grate is on the left. I plan on getting them for my XL and med. In speaking with the manufacturer the large and medium are the same.XLBGE, LBGE, MBGE, SMALL, MINI, 2 Kubs, Fire Magic Gasser

Thanks for the pics of the grate racks. Do you have to move the grate to put the shelf up and down? I usually just hang my grate or Woo3 off the shelf but it would be nice to have a place for the plate setter and pizza stone

The shelves go up and down just fine without hitting anything. On the right shelf you can see my grill brush, ashtool and grate lifter hanging off the s hooks. I leave all that stuff hanging when I put the shelves up and down also.XLBGE, LBGE, MBGE, SMALL, MINI, 2 Kubs, Fire Magic Gasser

Got some for Christmas ......I have a nest handler on my large egg. Do I have to modify where they go since handler takes up spots to hook them in.
-
I really liked the grate rack ... had it installed on the back of the nest. Just installed a nest handler and had to move the rack to the front side ... not as useful there.
