No way are dragging me into that mire...I love you all equally:)

I lurk because I can't hold a candle to @Cazzy wings, or @Travisstrick brisket. I made @Mickey naked ham once and everyone pleaded for me to put clothes on it. I lurk because my sausages taste like beanie weenies compared to @Griffin.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

For some reason the site will not allow me to post anymore, in the past month I tried posting two different cooks a few weeks apart & neither one would take. I got some kind of message that it would have to be approved, but it never happened... Not sure of the cause but it does make it tough to participate

What are your thoughts on The Baking Steel? Did you get one?Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ.... -
@Zippylip-welcome to the post approval "vortex from hell". It is a random happening and I have been victimized on quite a few occasions. Used to think it was tied to adding links to a post but turns out that was random as well. And yes the approval never occurs-I would suggest to just be persistent as it hasn't bit me in a few months...(now jinxed).Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. @Evilsports: for a new deck you should definitely be able to swing the new egg. As an accessory for the deck of course.
The approval else seems to appear if you try to add quotes from previous posts. At least that was the case for me in the past.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

I've had my large BGE for about a year now and love it. I've learned so much from this forum. Thanks to you all. I've been reluctant to post since I'm not sure my cooks compare to some of the amazing stuff I see on the forum. I'll strive to do better and become more active.
I'm going to include a few random pictures from past cooks that I do have to see if I can successfully add pictures.

What if we throw out the best piece of advice we've received? Then I vote for MCN's tip to elevate the drip tray. I cooked three briskets a few weeks ago and when I opened the lid after 13 hours, it didn't smell too purty. I had the tray sitting on the place setter. Since then, I invested in a wire cooling rack used for cookies. I've had no issues since. I may not have the cute little ceramic feet, but the use of a cooling rack was a great idea. The briskets turned out phenomenal. I did the simple 1:1 kosher salt and coarse pepper rub. I think I would have made CenTex proud. And before I forget, thanks to the forum, I know not to carry my beer into the shower. Hope all of your Memorial Day cooks are memorable. Remember, freedom isn't free, bourbon is meant to be shared, and EggHeads rule.

actually the rule is: If you carry your beer into the shower AFTER the wife says "stop drinking and take a shower" (which it totally acceptable in my book), throw the evidence away after said shower. Article 2 states that all non SWMBO sanctioned beverages must be consumed from red solo cups after the shower (for the obvious sake of plausible deniability) until guests arrive when it is, what we like to call in the business "on like Donkey Kong" once again. This is the time to regale your guests with stories of your awesomeness and to make everyone around you so uncomfortable that they feel they must drink twice as fast as (their) normal just to catch up to you. Now your prim and proper neighbor is doing tequila shots to "fit in" and you are no longer the gold medalist. You tell your wife as you snuggle in later "wow-can you believe how Penelope behaved this evening? Preposterous"! Problem solved.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
@Cen_Tex-that is funny and has too much truth...only issue is "you just can't throw away the evidence" unless you mean quick consumption. Full props for getting to the "snuggle in" part of the evening...Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! I hate to throw poor penolope under the bus but she has other issues at this point. Her attorney husband is upset at her behavior and the room is spinning as she tries to piece all together. Sad really. Good night allKeepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -

Yes, I lurk a lot. Am also egg-less at the moment. I live in Nepal and am cooking on my Weber kettle. In a couple weeks I'm heading back to TN where I'm gonna egg my head off.

I didn't lurk very long. I used to follow this forum when we got our large BGE in 1998. We learned a lot and life kind of took over. Work, play, work, etc. However hubby and I are officially retired and although we have cooked on our Egg constantly, we decided to expand our menus. We found out about the adjustable rig and have been using it since we got it. We have done "The Chicken" recipe and last night we did stuffed burgers. Absolutely fantastic. I also have had problems posting pictures. Mine never got approved either. Guess I'll just keep trying. I also have learned a lot from you guys and really appreciate your sharing your knowledge with everyone.
