  • Is there a charge for the tickets and about how much? Where would I get them from? I know it is August.

Mrs gps and I will be there.... maybe with some friends. We have a cabin up in Blue Ridge, about 100 miles north,  so will probably come into town for the day.Looking forward to it!

    Alton,

Yes there usually is a charge for tasters, $25-$35pp is my guesstimate. Come hungry as there will be over 200-300 cooks and more food than you can ever eat. The tickets go on sale Aug 6 according to the bulletin. They will probably sell out so get them fairly soon or you may be disappointed...it is an Eggers dream day for sure...we wil be there cooking...

Yes it sold out fast last year, the price was at least $35 for taster, they did have free beer though.

Looking forward to meeting some people on here. I live about 15 minutes away. They made a good move changing the venue to Stone Mountain.

Probably not until registration, you could call and ask what they will be.

We have a few ideas for the easy part that should not be too bad.  We know we can't feed everyone but kind of wanted a ballpark idea to estimate costs and such.

    Shedberg,

"If you cook it they will come"...cook stuff that is fun and you can do a lot of prep work ahead of time...cooking all day is fun but tiring...

Also, I would suggest printing out the recipes on 3x5 cards unless you want to repeat them to everybody that asks which can be overwhelming.

The last few years BGE has had a company who prints out copies of your recipes. You send them your recipe and they print them up for you and they are available when you get your cooks packages...this has been very helpful and doesn't cost the cooks anything...hopefully they offer this service again this year...

Also yes having a board with the items you will be cooking is a great idea. It helps keep the tasters informed...

Yes on the board, we have one of those too. We post what will be coming and approximately what time.

I'd love to go to one of these, but it'll have to wait another year. Are they always around Columbus Day weekend or thereabouts?

    JohnIn,

For the last 15 years Eggtoberfest has been the 3rd Saturday in October...this year they had to change venues & dates. So this year it is Oct 11 & 12...I for one hope it stays Columbus Day weekend & at Stone Mountain...that way we can camp longer.

You should see him at Salado. Entrance is free. Bail money is the only thing he had to pay for.

Fortunately, Mickey was able to intervene with the judge before henapple's "Pabst Blue Ribbon is the only currency I know" worldview got him in more trouble.

You don't have to pay to cook, only for the food you are cooking. Did I mention free beer? Of course there will be bloody mary's at our tent.

  • Actually, at most fests I think you do have to pay something to cook, but price greatly reduced normally.  For example, GaMtnFest was $10 for cooks if I remember correctly.  But, for that I got a covered space with electricity, tables and chairs, overnight on site security with the ability to do an overnight cook on Friday and come back in to check things if I needed to, free meet and greet, cooks gift bag, and eligible for nice cooks drawings prizes.  Plus, got to meet a lot of great folks from forums, so all in all, a great price for a lot of fun.

When you sign up there will be an option for cooks. You can sign up 2 people per egg.
