Got mine from The Wok Shop in SanFrancisco. They're online and I'd suggest calling. Very knowledgable about Eggs and will fix you up.

The Ceramic Grill Store has 16" carbon steel woks and the spider. The Wok Shop is great also.
-
16 inch wok is the perfect size for the large egg.twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc.

Bought mine from Ceramic Grill Store. Fits perfect on the spider and is well made. I need to use it more.
-
Question, do I need the spider or can I just use the wok on the grate?

If you get a flat bottom wok, it can sit right on the grate...a round bottom one uses the spider OR if you get the wok ring with it, it can sit on the grate too. -
if your shutting the egg during a wok cook theres not much reason to use a wok over other cooking utensils like a pan or dutch oven. stirfries are done so hot and fast you need the dome open or they burn, you need to be stirring. all i use for stirfry is the 14 inch wok with the long handle, have you tried the one you have yet
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
that's what I'll be using this afternoon on the spider.fishlessman said:all i use for stirfry is the 14 inch wok with the long handle,

I got mine from Tom at CGS. Love it and use it a lot. Chinese and thai food. !!!

I don't like wood handles because they'll burn when you're doing wok hei. They're all pretty much the same - buy carbon steel. Avoid cast iron. The long handles are almost always wood. There are a few with metal handles. Wear gloves.

Does anyone Wok on the small? If so, what size wok do you use? What's the set-up? I would like to add this to my bag of tricks while "on the road".Flint, Michigan

I am thinking about getting one as well for the small, but need the right one like you do.Fred19Flintstone said:Does anyone Wok on the small? If so, what size wok do you use? What's the set-up? I would like to add this to my bag of tricks while "on the road". -
i think the kits you see at walmart target etc are mostlt wood handles, go to an asian kitchen supply in a major city and the long handles are all metal. cheapest place ive ever seen for woks was china town, down town boston of all places, i bought a 14 inch long handle wok and a 16 inch hand hammered one with hooped handles for a grand total of 22 bucks. before ordering online its a good idea to look for an asian market in your area, i found 2 close by that i never knew existednolaegghead said:http://www.amazon.com/Town-Food-Service-Steel-Cantonese/dp/B001BSN7P0/ref=sr_1_18?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1347437448&sr=1-18&keywords=carbon+steel+wok

+1 got a 14" made in China very thin CI for $8.00 in NYC's Chinatown. While the Wok Shop, and Tom are stand up vendors, check your local Asian market.fishlessman said:i think the kits you see at walmart target etc are mostlt wood handles, go to an asian kitchen supply in a major city and the long handles are all metal. cheapest place ive ever seen for woks was china town, down town boston of all places, i bought a 14 inch long handle wok and a 16 inch hand hammered one with hooped handles for a grand total of 22 bucks. before ordering online its a good idea to look for an asian market in your area, i found 2 close by that i never knew existedBx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket! -
+1 on local Asian markets. We have a HUGE Asian market near my house that used to be a Wal-mart. Their woks are dirt cheap. I bought an 16" wok there a few years ago for, I want to say, $10-12.

No handles. I use grill mitts. I like it a lot and it is cheap.
