The time in the hospital is not expected to be long, and the stay is related to Parkinson's which he has battled for sometime now.

Just an observation from someone in Kentucky that grew up watching this man, from Louisville....

There is a photo of Ali and Nelson Mandela shaking hands. It is rather significant, and I believe to have been captured by a photo journalist from Kentucky. I was told it was the first time either had met, and both had shared something they were both very good at, and intimate with; Boxing.

In most images captured of Ali, taken as photo ops, he was pleased to meet the people he shook hands with, using only one hand, for the picture. The image with Mandela showed him using two hands to shake Nelson’s. They shared much more than boxing. Very few images exist of Ali using both hands to shake another's.

Hate him should you want, or appreciate him for what he was, it does not matter. He was the most recognizable person on earth, stayed true to his principles and beliefs while sacrificing much, as he lived his life and spoke his mind, in an era that most of his race, had no other voice, as well as, fearing to ask for equality.

Hero or heathen, your free choice to decide. He stood among royalty and celebrity. He helped initiate change and understanding, he fought against a war and prejudice. Maybe he helped make the world a bit better for a few folks, and in doing so, he made the world better for many of us.

Nobody, was better. Ali was the greatest, and he is from the United States. The land of the free, because of the brave.
