If I saw that outside on my patio, I wouldn't have enough time to take a picture. I'd be too busy packing up and moving! Snakes are not my thing at all

I suppose you could, but why? Pork is tastier.
I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

If that were my house the patio would look like Swiss cheese. I'll run into a burning building no problem BUT I do not like snakes.

That's what greeted me this morning on the Outerbanks.

Sure. I do it all the time. Here in AZ every time I find a rattler in my backyard I machete the head off, throw it over the back wall for the coyotes, peel off the skin, rub it down with salt and pepper, and on the egg it goes. As someone said, 350 indirect for about 10 minutes.

Here in the Southwest, we have the 'Mojave Green' which is aggressive and probably wouldn't POSE like this one, seemingly waiting for the Big Rock to come crashing down.

That looks like good cooking to me. I would go with smoke instead of direct though.XLBGE

Eastern Hognose! Those are super cool snakes. They play dead when you pick them up to the point where they roll over and stick their tongue out. I caught one last year by the house and it started writhing around and sticking it's tongue out. I put it down and rolled on its back and died. I went up to google what kind of snake it was and when I came back the bastard was gone. Tricked me.

they also flatten out their head like a cobra. I knew it wasn't one of those but they have all kinds of tricky ways to freak you out.

that might be a copperhead...yikes

Here in arkansas in spring the copperheads are more reddish bronze like that picture. Cottonmouths are darker.
I know a guy who used to actually tan snakehides. When he would clean up a big cottonmouth they were actually a dark emerald green after you get all the nasty off them.Little Rock, AR

That damn link just turned my stomach. I think I would rather eat chicken in a can than look at those pictures.
