I've been seeing (and buying) prime brisket at Costco for $3.39 for the last 5 months. This is at the store in NOLA.

Agree with @nolaegghead but I would look around. I generally see $0.40-$.60/lb price difference. With that price point it is worth the extra to me to get the prime. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Agree the "no" answer above - with 2 caveats.
1) The occasional special occasion - like when it is for a work party where you really want to impress some folks - and work is paying for the meat.
2) The choice briskets that are available just don't feel as tender as you would like. I made this call one time when there were only 3 choice briskets left and they weren't as "floppy" as I like brisket to be - so I couldn't imagine them turning out as good as I would like. I ponied up the extra $$ ($3.29 vs $5.77/pound that day as I recall) for prime and was glad I did.XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

Here in GA $6 a lb for prime would be a great deal. Someone just mentioned a place had them on sale for that price. We just don't see prime brisket that often.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
