I have always done my Ribs on my XL ... just curious if anyone does them on a MM on regular basis?
A few friends and myself have decided to do a Rib CookOff for bragging rights ... and also an excuse to get together and drink large amounts of adult beverages. There will be pellet grills and a few drum smokers and then my Egg. As you all probably know, an XL Egg doesn't travel well. Just wondering if it's doable with my MM? I'd love to take the XL over there but doubt it's worth the aggravation. They'll all be giving me chit about how theirs are easy to move and I don't wanna hear it ... Lol!
Maybe I need to do a trial run or two on the MM before our little friendly competition.

I don't have a MM, but do have a Small (same grid size), and yes you can make ribs if you have an indirect setup.
Here's some I did:

I did 3 racks on the small earlier this summer. They came out alright but I like to do them flat on the large better. We were at a resort and I took the small with me for the weekend. We had 4 adults and 7 kids so I had to squeeze them a bit. I used bamboo skewers to try to hold them apart. It worked but I didn't get good bark since the rib slabs fell together.

I did some 3-2-1 and they came out great on the MM

Only issue is space when you but them flat on the grid, i just ordered another grid that i will put as a second layer to create bigger foot print. I tried the V-Rack but returned it since it is to big for MM and can only be used one way (ribs).

How many racks do you need to make?Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

2 racks ... and Im sure it can be done on MM but I have them down on the XL. Plus I can finish them layed out flat on my rack too. XL is a Rib cookin machine!
I was just hoping maybe someone had an awesome idea or technique for doing them on MM ... I really don't want mediocre results, so probably best to stick with what I know. Lol!My PitMaster IQ120 FREAKIN ROCKS!!!!!!! Current BGE arsenal: XL & MiniMax -
Ricky I did some beef ribs not too long ago in the MM. I don't recall if I posted it though.
Edit: it worked fine. Went indirect with WOO & stone. Raised indirect w/out a pan. Dry rub and sauced em toward the finish.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -
I can do 2 racks with no problems using the standard grate by stacking and rotating them throughout the cook. I do ribs often, but the mini max is a pork butt machine for me, not to mention try tips have been great too.
