Flies and flies and flies
Does anyone else have this problem? The flies don't bite, they're more of a nuisance/annoyance than anything else. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Fly traps and more fly traps. They stink, but they work. Just place them away from common areas and replace them every coupla weeks.
-
Also, I have no idea why or how this works, but it's reduced the fly count around my grilling area this year. Put a good amount of water in gallon sized ziplocks and drop a few pennies in them. Place them around your grilling area. The flies seem to be scared off. Sounds crazy, but it has reduced the fly count this year for me. It's one of those old farmers tricks.

Thank you so much.

Similar to what Dyal posted but I've had good luck with these from Rural King

@ajridge35 I had the exact same problem tonight. It was the least amount of fun I have ever had grilling. I had to put a fan out there full blast just so I could finish.
Where are you located?Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's -

That's what I (don't) like about the South! Sorry, man. I see about 3 flies all summer long. Ok, maybe 6.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

@johnkitchens nope. Above the gnat line here. Skeeters and deer flies, wasps and hornets. Of course, the yellow jackets don't bother me.

Gnats, flys, wasps, red ants and skeeters here. Armpit of the South.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

@cazzy is that the 2nd version? I have the first model and it's fun but the 2nd was supposed to be better.

I'll take flies over no-see-ums & horse flies all day any day. I use a charged tennis racket thing to zap ALL flying insects. Thus far this year it hasn't been bad even the mosquitoes are minimal. We don't allow standing water around the house and that helps a bunch. Not many regular flies to speak of either. But, it's the South so you name it and it's probably buzzing around nearby. And I'm ok as long as the buzzing is in the woods/wetlands. The lizards, frogs, toads, bats, other birds are well fed here.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

I have a family of barn swallows that moves in every year. That helps, but they poop all over the porch

it stinks, but it works. We get them really bad at the camp. I sprinkle that out when we are gonna be gone for a while. Come back to piles of dead flies.Little Rock, AR

yep, this has been the MOST effective fly control method I've found. Hang two of them in your yard and take pleasure in watching those annoying bastards drown, dehydrate or suffocate to death. They do have a fish stank to them but are well worth the scent in that they greatly control the flies. Also, the sticky rolls of 18" long fly paper strategically placed in your grilling area will help as well. I do have a couple of the tennis-racket zappers and they work well too for spot killingsI love this bug a salt deal and I think i'll get one for father's day this year!
