How long will my butt stay hot if I put it in a cooler wrapped in foil and towels? I plan on a 15 hour cook for 2 7.5 lb boneless butts. Should be done by 10. I plan on serving at 12. Will it stay hot for more than 2 hours?

oh yeah. I've done well over 8 hrs before. Easily 4-5 hrs if you use a lot of towelsKeepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

I've kept one (6#) warm for almost 4 hours, so for two hours you will be just fine.@TheCen-TexSmoker might know, if you have two butts is it better to foil each and then towel then together if you wanted to go 6 or 7 hours?Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I kept one warm for 6 hours.

Thanks guys. I knew Is be fine for 2 hours. I was giving myself a 2 hour buffer, but was considering going longer. The stall on these things can be unpredictable. I might bump it up to a 3 hour buffer.Mark Annville, PA

So pretty much 8 hours. Remember, it's pasteurized when you start out.

Theoretically, 2 foiled and wrapped together will stay hot a little longer. The two packaged together will have a slightly smaller surface area than two apart.

I woke up this morning and my buts were already done. Last time, it took ~17 hours for 1 big butt, this time just 12 hours. So I have 9.5 hours until dinner time. I wrapped each in 2 layers of foil, heavy towels, and have them tightly packed in a Yeti cooler. Hoping that works.

Put the butts in the cooler at 9AM and pulled them at 7:30PM, 10 1/2 hrs later. They were fine! Steam came out when I unwrapped them. Glad I had a Yeti.
