OK, the carnivore thing didn't last long, now I'm back to seafood, shellfish specifically.
My grocery store is bringing in fresh Alaskan King Crab legs for the next two to three weeks or so. I couldn't resist. They are precooked, so all I had to do was reheat them. I decided to just use the egg because I was baking dessert in the oven. I selected three legs which weighed 3 1/2 lbs and decided to serve it as part of a salad.
The citrus dressing and salad ingredients, minus the lettuce: Olive oil, rice wine vinegar, lemon juice, lime juice, sugar, mustard, garlic, chopped parley, basil, oregano, S&P. For the salad I used red leaf lettuce, hearts of palm, artichokes, mango, and yellow pepper.
The crab legs getting ready on the egg:
The lunch was served with Dr. L's riesling and some crusty french bread:
My plate:
It made for a very refreshing lunch. The salad dressing was a good compliment to the crab legs.

Rebecca I love those legs...but are you on a diet???
-
Kari, it is indeed a treat in Ohio. My grocery has an arrangemnet with an outfit in Alaska. They never know how long they'll be supplied with the fresh crab. They are ususally supplied for about 3 weeks.
Welcome home......now get out that Pro Q cold smoker woman! :woohoo: -
Beli, I didn't put my full portion on the plate, but I ate about a half kilogram!
Really, don't you know crab legs don't have any calories. -
One serving of King Crab legs, which is about 3 ounces cooked, contains 82 calories. One leg weighing 5 ounces has about 132 calories.
Now my very dear amiga if half a kilogram is about 18 ounces do your arithmetic...actually you are not that bad -
Beli,I must say it was 475 calories well spent!!!!!!!  :P
-
ABSOLUTELY no doubt about that ...Gosh, why didn't I say it....
-
Outstanding! Makes me want to get some of those! 3.5 lbs for 3 legs - that's huge! :woohoo:
Never done that on the egg. Did it have any smoke flavor? Maybe you could do butter on the egg to pick up some smoke... -
Richard, it was old lump and it burned clean. There was no smoke. I would have done them in the oven but I was making dessert in the oven. I didn't want the seafood smell in the house so I used the egg. The legs were bigger than huge, they were humongous!

Great looking meal! Wow!

So how does the DLM pure gold compare to the frozen stuff at Sam's? I've never been able to pull the trigger on the Red Crab at DLM after RTD told me about it a few years back.
Good looking eats. We had a some Pine Club burgers for dinner. Mighty tasty but my stomach is rebelling. Stomach viruses that don't present with the bad side effects still suck.
[edited because I really meant crab not crap LOL] -
Rebecca, beautiful cook and amazing magazine calibre photos.

Thanks Rich!

Dennis, this crab is exceptionally good. It is quite a splurge, but I think it is worth the extra money. In my opinion, it is better than the frozen solid crab. That being said, it is perhaps a bit less expensive than getting a steak at the Pine Club. Speaking of the Pine Club, I'm addicted to those tiny Nantucket scallops. Love em, just love em. Love their burgers as well.

Gary, you are such a sweetie!
I still can't believe what all you accomplished this weekend. Sure wish I was 1/10 that productive. -
Melissa, so great to hear from you! That is incredible to see a whole Alaskan King Crab, on an egg, no less. You are truly blessed to live in Alaska.
