First Boston Butt

Just got the egg about a month ago. Giving my first Boston butt a try. I just put it on 30 minutes ago so it has another 14hr+ to go.
Here we go with the pictures.
7.18 lbs
The rub.
Rub applied 24 hours prior to being put on grill.
Ready for the fridge.
Ingredients for the injection.
Heat up to dissolve rub.
Finished product.
Get the hickory chips ready.
Getting the fire started. Hope that is enough fuel.
Cook some dinner first.
Dinner complete.
Injecting the butt.
Done injecting.
The grill setup.
Grill @250, butt on @8:00pm

Looking good. Couple of pointers or other ways to do stuff.
You don't need to soak your chips.
Most folks inject before they rub, but yours looks pretty good.
Can't wait to see the finished photos.

You might check the internal temp before you go 14hrs. You dont want to go much past 200. -
1 Hour in and the temp on the grill went up to about 280. Adjusted the vent a little. I was going to check the temp on the butt at about 10 hours.

How did you sleep last night? Did you keep running out and checking it? I probably would of. Can't wait to see the finished product

Before I went to bed the temp got a little high so adjusted the heat. It had just got at 250 so I was a little nervous that it would keep getting down. I did keep waking up about every 2 hours. It stayed right at 240-250 all night with no adjustments.

It didn't take as long to cook as I thought. It is 195+ throughout. I have pulled off and double wrapped in tinfoil.
should I put in refrigerator? How long until I should pull it apart? -
most on here say 4-5 hrs, but I have kepot mine wrapped in a cooler for as long as 24 before serving

When you say cooler is that an empty cooler with just the butt, or do I need to be cooling the butt down until its cold?

Wrap in foil, then towels and into an empty cooler. It will stay hot for up to 4 hours, then you can pull it and serve.
If you are going to be longer than four hours before eating, some will refrigerate whole, then rewarm and pull. Others will hot-cooler it for a couple of hours, then pull and refrigerate. Rewarming is easy - put in large pan, and add either a can of Coke Classic or I prefer a cup each of apple juice and water. Seal the top with foil and reheat in the oven.
