I have a generic 13" pizza stone right now, but when I tried to bake baguettes on it there was an overhang and the edge got burnt. My baguette pan is 16" long; any reason why a 16" Old Stone Oven pizza stone

I think you are better off getting a BGE stone. Thicker and lifetime warrenty. Alot of the others end up cracking. There are others that wont crack but I can't direct you on those.Molly

R.R. - Since this stone is only 3/8" thick, I would not recommend it. I use a P***o 16" dia. x 5/8" stone on a raised grid. The bottom of the stone is 3" above the felt line.
Hope this helps. -
I use a 16 x 5/8 thick round kiln shelf that works great. It is made of the same material as the BGE stones and is the perfect size for the 16" pie. I don't know how big the BGE stone is for the lg but I thought it was smaller in diameter.

This one looks like it's 3/4" thick, according to someone's description. The BGE pizza stone for a large egg is 14" in diameter, and someone said that a larger stone burned his gasket so I was wondering what other people's experiences have been. I can't get a BGE stone online or by mail, which is why I was looking elsewhere. There are no BGE dealers nearby.

No problems at all with the gasket here. I use the plate setter legs up and the stone on the grid or a raised grid. Both methods work well but I prefer the raised grid. Here's is where I got my 16" kiln shelf.

I get a Page Not Found to that link, and when I go to the site they have a 15" 5/8 and then a 21" 3/4" thick.

I've used a 16" stone without problem. If you do end up burning up your gasket, you can try the new nomex gasket as a replacement. Good luck! The Naked Whiz

Where would I find a suitable one, though?

I would call them, That is where I got mine and it looks like they are working on their web site.
