Striped Bass with Old Bay Butter

A few months ago I posted Haddock with Old Bay Butter and it was wonderful. Today I did the same cook with frozen striped bass instead of fresh Haddock. It was very good but not as good as the fresh haddock. The striped bass has been in my freezer for three months now, but it was frozen in a Reynold's Handi Vac Bag and was in perfect condition. I cooked the same bass, fresh using EVOO and Tsunami Spin and it was awesome. I'll have to cook the next piece of frozen bass with the Tsunami Spin to see if it was the seasoning or the fresh fish. My guess is it will be both. But still a nice meal 100% egged with pierogi's and asparagus. It cooked to fast for an Eggshot. Working on the photography, note to self wipe plate clean before shooting. RTD set a bar that is hard to reach, I miss him.

Ah, Patagonian Toothfish. My favorite. Looks delish.

Patagonian Toothfish? I caught this guy in the New York Bight.

Fortunately Striped Bass and Patagonian Toothfish are not the same. I'll take the Striped Bass any day.
Tom, the bass looks great, I use to fish them a lot and they are one of the best fish ever, both for catching and eating. Regretfully we don't have them on the west coast of Florida but the Grouper and Snook help make up for it.

The striped bass stocks have really rebounded here in the last ten years.Ten years ago you would never see them for sale now they are seasonal but you can buy them I fish for blues every year and if striped base were plentiful you would catch some. This was the first time a supplier took us out specifically for striped bass and we caught a bunch.

Yum! Very nice cook, and photo. I feel like I am sitting in the chair, but I can't smell anything.
Cheers!

Chris thanks for the kind words.I think the Tsunami Spin is going to win the frozen fish throw down.

Nice pierogis & jack! just made some mozzarella moons w/ a pierogi maker.

sea bass, not striped bass. Two different species of fish.
