Wabbly Grid extender

Unknown
edited November -0001 in EggHead Forum
Has anyone ever modified the BGE grid extender. I just tried to use mine and that darn thing is so wabbly I would trust anything on it. I want to cut of the legs and maybe make some legs using lag bolts or something. Can anyone send me a picture of what you've done. Thanks

  • BENTE,
Thanks-Very Inventive. I guess I'm the only one who thinks the legs on the extender don't work well.

    <p />Bryaninatlanta,
not sure what you mean by wabbly...you need to stretch the legs a bit so that they fit tightly over the grate. Look at this picture closely. When properly installed you can pick up both grates merely by lifting the extender.

Just got back from the hardware store and replicated your design Eggactly. PERFECT! Thanks!

    Bryaninatlanta,
Just spread them out further....I do agree that it aint the strongest thing in the world..but it does work fine if you stretch it out one rung further than design..[p]Wess

  • WessB,
My grid is the same size as the grid that came with my egg. I have a medium. I can't spread the legs far enough to lock tight because I am out of room. I cut the legs off and went with Guava Greg's design. Now I have grids the same size for maximum cooking space. Sturdy too. See his photo. Thanks!
