Pickerel (Walleye) with Tomato Relish, Grilled Sweet Potato and Salad

Picked up some pickerel and had a look at some recipes before choosing this one. https://homespuncafe.com/pan-fried-pickerel-with-tomato-relish/

Prepped the tomato relish, then grilled the sweet potatoes while pan frying the pickerel. All on the gasser (no shade please). My wife threw together a salad and made a dressing on the fly. Everything homemade from fresh ingredients.

Ate outside because it was a beautiful evening.

Took a walk as a family afterwards and spotted a very active woodpecker.

Thanks for looking.

Some lovely looking food. I'm not aware of having had pickerel on the basis that i needed to look up what it is. :)

Absolutely nothing wrong with pan frying a fish like that, probably the best way to go.  Battered and deep fried might  be a close second.  All of that meal looks good.

Interesting that where I'm at Pickerel and Walleye are two distinct species.  Google says that is not the case in some parts of Canada.  Good eats no matter the name!

    Thanks, @kl8ton, @Stormbringer and @dbCooper.

It’s not a fish that I remember having had in the past. The whole family loved it. Would definitely have again.

Pickerel? An exotic cook to my eyes. I had to look it up online, it seems to be what we call luccio here. If so, that’s a very fine fish.
    Great post as usual

Lucio is in the pickerel pike family.  Walleye are in the the perch family.  The walleye are a more delicate tasting fish and more common to be commercially harvested for sale

I do not care if it is on a gasser or the Egg, just as long as it is on my plate.

Brilliant cook, for a great family evening.

    Thank you for sharing.
