Was the end a caveman finish?  Flames would suggest that.  Great photo-talented camera person.
    Now for the great reveal!!!

No, but close.  Lump was only about 2 inches below grid.  Factory grid in default position.

Work trip. I really hate hotel life and thankfully I only need to travel a few times a year for work.

Something about that shot is emanating dark vibes. 😅

Best hotel tip I ever heard…. Use an ice bucket bag to cover the tv remote. It’s reportedly the dirtiest place in a hotel room.

You should see the coils on the AC unit. It will gag a maggot.

And to think we had the technology to put 'em on the moon 50+ years ago with a heavy launch vehicle much less complex.
With this project I am frequently reminded of the phrase "better is the enemy of good enough" as it is a well-known axiom often attributed to Admiral Sergey Gorshkov, Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet Navy from 1956 to 1985. It suggests that over-engineering or seeking perfection hinders practical, timely results. Gorshkov used this principle to prioritize building sufficient naval forces over waiting for technically perfect ones.

Still holds true today with the evolving of high tech low-cost weapons.  Our spend rate in ordance measures will not be sustainable.

Fun, true anecdote from NASA: they spent a lot of money developing a pen that could write in space (gravity is required to keep ink flowing to the ball).  They finally figured it out.

Artemis II launch went really smoothly.  Was cool to see the boosters work and separate, I worked on the Space Shuttles’ RSRMs for two years when I worked up at Thiokol (now Northrop-Grumman).  I understand the white boosters on Artemis are just the RSRMs with one or two extra sections added, making it longer (I’m sure there were other changes like the geometry of the propellant, etc).  Those boosters have to be divided up into sections so they can be shipped by rail (through sometimes-curved rail tunnels) from Promontory UT to Kennedy Space Center, where they’re assembled into the final boosters.

Bautiful trip report to Portugal and Spain @GrateEggspectations! I'm enjoying the pics as I've visited most of this places with my family.
Have a great trip continuation here in EU
  • Thank you, @Paolo. I hope to make it to your neck of the woods before too long. Some of my in-laws are about to travel to your beautiful country.

Cracking the windows, to listen to the huge thunderstorm and downpour we're getting right now, in March!
Well, okay, it's April, but still unusual (I had to mow the lawn last week).
