Reading applications for the DOE's flagship computational science graduate fellowship program.  Awards provide full tuition and full stipend for four years at the very best institutions in the US.  Each one takes me a good half hour to read.  It's a tough slog.
Any limitations on schools?  Asking due the Secretary of War’s recent position.

I’m sure this is a huge deal for those under consideration and rightfully so.

Not trying to politicize this…just deleted my Facebook and Instagram as I think those platforms purposely stir the pot.

bacon grease lined cast iron is the way!  it could be said that it merits an underside crust pic like pizza!!
Because I was pouring the batter into a pan that was still hot from cooking the bacon before it hit the oven, I figured I’d pull on the low side of cornbread doneness (195-209F). Took it out at 190 to account for some carryover.

As noted in the recipe, this is sweeter and more cake-like than traditional southern cornbreads.

too funny!  thanks for the pics.  i am definitely in the buttermilk and bacon grease camp for cornbread (and no sugar).

In the hospital overnight. Echo cardio, EKG, x-ray, and at least 5 people listened to my lungs. Possible post flu pneumonia, they will cat scan tomorrow to be sure. Oh least not forget a massive shot in the rump of antibiotic.

No restriction.  This is a DOE program, not a DOD one.

I figured I left enough crumbs for you. 🙂

We first got exposed when a friend who worked in the restaurant industry spoke really highly of it. We went with him and his wife and then we just couldn’t stop going. Love everything about the spot. Frida and Diego for the win!

At the RDU airport.  Apparently we now have a “Guy’s Pizza” - I guess Fieri started a pizza chain or something.  I’m sure it’s as good as the place he had in Times Square.

Why does the burger place give you two salad dressings?   ;)

Shamefully, I’ve eaten at a few of those Fieri chains. Last year, I was travelling with a family member who ordered a burger that I think was almost $40. Needless to say, I am still searching for the Mayor of Flavourtown (sic/nod).

Hope you thoroughly enjoy your trip, John. Like I say, please send pics if you can. As one of SouthEast Asia’s cleanest cities, there should be a lot of opportunities for great photographs (no pressure!). Weird food exploits please (no pressure!).

@GrateEggspectations - I'm all in with the Hambourgeois Frida et Diego.  Upon further review all the hambourgeois look great except the tofu thing.  And thanks to @Canugghead for surfacing the menu.

I grabbed the pic from a review site, one of them looks like mayo. What say you @GrateEggspectations?

One is the creamy garlic vinaigrette and the other is mayo, for the fries.
