Perhaps this should have been a Friday night question when some brown water would have added depth to some responses =) . But as an old fart on this forum I keep thinking there are more frequent posts to the what are you buying etc posts than questions from newbies.

Sorry if this topic has already been beaten to death, but I never caught it.

I don't mean to be a Donnie Downer - I just mean there are so many eggers who used to be regulars here who seldom post or never post anymore or have they just moved on or has the shine of Eggdom worn off?

the last 20 years there has been a huge shift in not only how people and technology interact (pc vs phone) but also in the number of options / alternatives. most forums that are similar to this (but for my other interests) have either disappeared or had huge drop offs in activity.

Yup. The forum platform in general is dying. Today’s social platforms and influencers are the trend.

For a moment, I thought that BGE took the link to this forum off their website.  You won't find a link in the "Community" menu...oh no....you find it after scrolling a mile to the bottom and clicking on this discrete link:

I have always like the forum platform better than social media for more personal dialogue. I guess 50 IS old...

Id bet lunch more cool $#!t gets exchanged between friends in here than on the Facebook page.

    I maybe wrong, but...

Funny, I’ve dropped pretty much all my social media use - except Reddit.  I don’t post on FB anymore, never really got into Instagram, and never got over the MySpace server migration fiasco in 2018.

This is the only platform I regularly use and post online.  Pretty much because I know most everyone and they are real folks, diverse backgrounds, and all with shared respect and interests.

I used to love the original forum that later became GreenEggers, and liked this one, too.  I haven't posted here in a long time, only came here just now and noticed this thread because I used a browser I almost never use anymore, and saw a button for "Egghead," and clicked out of nostalgia.  Nice to see some of your names again!  :)
Not having been here for so long, I obviously don't know if the form has matured, any.  I'm a little sad to have to admit that I haven't used my Big Green Eggs since the Pandemic.  It doesn't have anything to do with the virus, just a marker for the era.  I'm just old, and tired, and I have balance problems because of an inner ear disorder, so I walk with a cane, now, and going up and down the steps from my house to the Eggs carrying stuff with both hands so I can't use my cane or hang on to a railing is a little scary to me, these days.  I worry I'll fall and break a bone or something.  I used to love grilling and smoking stuff on my Big Green Eggs.  Keep thinking I'll get at it again THIS year, but I haven't, and now it's October...
I was really sad to see Greeneggers finally disappear -- anyone know if Old Bones Bob (wasn't that what he called himself?) is still with us? -- but I'm glad you all are still here and posting!  I wish you well, hope you're all hale and hearty, and cooking up some world class grub!
Yes - I remember you! Sorry that the aging process has separated you from your love of grilling and the BGE. I myself am 81 and am running (ha ha) as fast as I can to ahead of the grim reaper! As for Bob - yes he is still with us and he and I exchange emails on a regular basis. He too hasn't used his egg for sometime now for much the same issues to what your described. I hope you can stay here on the forum whether egging or not as I recall you regularly added to the old forum with your cooks and advice!

Awesome words to describe that, @Theophan .

I agree with you that there was something “enchanting” about the transition to the big green egg community. Lots of great memories made with you guys over the past couple of decades

I have never laughed so hard as I did when Trevor started the “officially unofficial” BGE Facebook page and ran it for months before BGE Corporate figured it out.
