This thread is barely standalone worthy, but given the low traffic on the forum lately I figured it can't hurt
S-I-L made reverse seared sirloin roast...

Two large juicy birds, over four pounds each, hot and fast on the pellet pooper...

Fired up the BS for the first time this year (need to fix that)...

The real star of the night was mash made with new crop yellow potatoes. No pic.
Bread machine buns:

Tarts from a Portuguese bakery...

Indian mango lassi cake from supermarket freezer...

Two older grandkids passed the torch to the two younger ones...

@Canugghead - don't ever hold back from posting your family meals!I, for one, enjoy seeing them... lots of variety, and lots of love, from all parties involved. Even the GrandCanuggs are put to work
If you have liked the mango lassi pie, I've had this on my radar for a while, but haven't tried making it, yet:

@ColbyLang
Good point! He learned grandma's bad habit 😂, she cut most, if not all, of these without touching the cutting board, although she pulls the knife inward.

@caliking Thanks, took a quick look at that video, it's titled Easy... but still seems too involved for this lazy cook

Recently there was a “last meal” thread. My last meal request would be a place at your “Family Dinner” table.

Always a treat and banquet whenever you post up a family gathering. All looks great but that sirloin roast wins the day!Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Definitely separate thread worthy, great cook and pics. What were the chickens coated with?-----------------------------------------------------------------------

@Stormbringer, my flattened chicken routine:
1) Pick a random rub and apply under loosened skin, bone side and on skin,
2) Using a tea strainer, sprinkle a thick, even coat of corn starch on the skin,
3) Raise on wire rack and air dry in fridge overnight,
4) Hot and fast at 400F, with a few flips. A big spatula like this makes flipping easy, less likely to break an arm or a leg,
5) Slather with random bbq sauce about ten minutes before pulling. The cooked corn starch acts as sauce binder.

looks like the green knife is a safety / kids knife— have you been happy with it? looks like a good item to add to an amazon order for free shipping threshold some day.
-
@Buckwoody Egger My wife used to use it for salad. It's not kid friendly, tip is too pointed, had to warn him to be careful. The one on the right is but the youngest one wouldn't share.

^^^ @ColbyLang He's a quick learner 😂
@Buckwoody Egger You probably knew this already, googlez on 'amazon free shipping filler'.

I was not aware of the link and also i think the “sharp point” observation is helpful. In general I think sharp knifes are safer because they command respect and work as intended— but junior chefs are worth advanced research for sure. thanks and always enjoy your family dinner posts

Thanks! Going to try this. 👍Canugghead said:@Stormbringer, my flattened chicken routine:
