@BeanHead quick question - I did the recipe but only added 2lbs of figs and not near enough liquid to cover? I feel like I am
missing something? 2 cups of apple cider vinegar and 2 cups sugar (cut down because less figs). Should we add water to cover?
(the smells are outrageous!!)
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Sorry @Ozzie_Isaac because they float it never seems like enough liquid. Also when I use larger figs I will double the amount of brine because I don’t want to get to the end and not have enough to cover. Because these rest in the fridge and are not really canned I have used brine from the first jar eaten to cover any other jars that seem low. Also I use this same recipe for watermelon rind pickles (just toss in 5-10 cloves per jar instead of stabbing the rind, and peel the skin off the rind).

Thank you for the clarification! And never thought of pickling watermelon rinds, excited to try that - I enjoy using everything I can and reducing food waste.BeanHead said:Sorry @Ozzie_Isaac because they float it never seems like enough liquid. As a guy whose last viewed film in a theater was the original Spiderman, I guess I won't.Battleborn said:

For some odd reason I scanned the TV guide before I turned it off, and saw that Independence Day was showing on ABC, I clicked on it and watched the last 1/3rd or so. At the very end, where all of Humanity were celebrating the defeat of the Aliens, they showed some crashed saucers around the planet, including a huge one crashed into the mountains right behind the Giza pyramids.Botch said:

There are no mountains behind the Giza pyramids. None.
It takes a couple views to remind me why I don't watch movies very much.

Mother Nature vs Fireworks last night. A pretty cool combination together!

I live in a cul-de-sac where the neighborhood kids were shooting off fireworks. Of course the one neighbor on the street threatens to call the police. We have had monsoonal rains this week. The kids were just having fun. I told him to go back inside. He didn't like that.Midland, TX XLBGE

Since I have shishito peppers falling out my butt, I’ve experimented with many blistering toppings. I’ve really digging fresh lemon juice, a drizzle of sweet Thai chili and flaky salt.
