Thanks for the kind words. Here is the recipe. I usually don’t do an overnight marinade. A few hours works fine.

I actually have two recipes saved for this. This is the one I have been using. My apologies.

And here I thought there was this magical saffron😁 was also thinking some eggheads are drunken arseholes😆 three for three @ jic, Ozzie, canugghead 😁
There’s considerable variance in flavor,  and color, between Kashmiri, Irani/Persian, Afghani, Spanish, fake, etc. saffron.

If you have a local Indian/Pakistani grocer, they should have saffron of reasonable quality. As does Costco. Amazon has decent saffron, too. Any of these options will serve you well.

I resent the suggestion that I’m a drunk.

@Canugghead - I've made those coconut buns before. Really need to make them again. They were delicious.

Any will do. Unlikely that you would be able to tell the difference, but highly likely that you'd still enjoy it. Kinda like how i may  enjoy a lobster roll at Logan, but you'd have words to say

As with most spices, avoid anything ground/powdered. Don't buy it at a regular grocery store.

if you want to start a fight, tell an Iranian that Kashmiri saffron is the best, or vice versa. make sure to have cocktail/popcorn at the ready.

I could not enjoy a lobster roll from anyplace with today's prices. Will be making some soon though after the fourth when the prices drop. They need to come off a boat, not out of a big bait tank or thawed out from frozen and not for 36 bucks for a roll. For the saffron, l'll check out the halil shop down the road, find out if he is irani😆

Getting it done on Saturday evening.  Great cooks above.  Congrats to all.
And once again my humble request- Time to load up the stand-alone cooks to encourage participation.  If it doesn't work nothing lost...
