Brisket Prices

I picked up a prime brisket at Costco today for &4.99/lb and thought this was pretty good for prime. Having my Costco reward check also weighed in on my purchase decision. What have your prices been lately?

This is only the 2nd brisket I’ll have attempted. If the weather doesn’t get bad it may run this weekend.

That's good price for brisket in flyover country.  Also give the search function here a look as brisket pricing surfaces periodically.
Hopefully a decent meat supplier initial trim job as that has been an issue for me with the recent briskets at the local Costco.
Anyhow, enjoy the cook.  About the most fun you can have with the BGE given the number of audibles the cow will toss your way during the course.

An SRF Black is going for about $13.

For reference, Creekstone Farms sells prime grade brisket for around $11-12 /lb.
Now if you want to get to Texas and spend a few days chasing brisket you can find SRF wagyu for around $8-9/lb at HEB groceries.
All this is background noise to the fun cook you are about to enjoy.  Hopefully the weather gods are kind.

Agree on the HEB wagyu prices in the 8-9 range. I usually find them on special a couple times a year for $3.49 for prime trimmed with the deckle fat removed. Usually grab a couple for the freezer, but I’m not a huge brisket fan, just good to have around to feed a crowd or for tailgating.

If I’m having brisket I want it as pastrami. I will cook it for others, but I would much rather have lamb or goat.

Have you tried the Salado brisket chili recipe that’s found here on the forum?  That is worth checking out.

I have not, but I’m willing to give it a shot! I still put beans in my chili so I am clearly not adapting to being in Texas.

    True to your username!

The recipe, to its credit, includes beans as an option.
