My universal lid made of 1.5" dense packing foam (not messy like styrofoam); for good measure I wrap the lid and pot (not the Anova) with several towels/flannels.

There are times when old school food savers do the trick, but when it fits a chamber sealer is the bees knees.Canugghead said:
True but not sure if a residential chamber sealer can accommodate that big hunk of meat (ham?). It appears a 10x15 bag (biggest my VP215 can handle) would be too small/tight. I use my old Foodsaver for oversized protein.Ozzie_Isaac said:

You can externally seal with a chamber sealer FWIW so over sized is a non issue --I use food saver rolls for this and it works fineCanugghead said:

I tried but couldn't get the thinking outside the chamber trick to work, need to practise more for sure. However, in the case of big hunks of meat such as whole packer, shoulder or ham, the bottle neck with my chamber sealer is the 10" sealing width.lkapigian said:

In March of 2023 Anova sent me a replacement Precision Cooker out of goodwill, kudos to them.
Used it recently and noticed the wifi connect (holding target temp button for 5 secs) no longer works. Kind of disappointed since I use it less than once a month and pamper it... wash, dry and store in original packaging after every use. Still works without wifi but I've lost confidence in it.
My Plan B: A bucket immersion water heater controlled by Inkbird, and an aquarium pump that runs constantly. Experimented with set temp 130, not a true PID (?) and temp fluctuates between 129-131 staying at 130 most of the time, good enough for me.
Inkbird temp alerts set to 128 (low) and 132 (high), unit alarm beeps loud if temp goes out of range, also get notified on my phone. Limits set artificially to trigger/test alarms, not from actual usage.

Nifty setup, @Canugghead !
Coincidentally, I had some trouble with my Joule yesterday - not with wifi connectivity, though. It would make a high pitched sound, then stop circulating. Would start circulating again after a few seconds.
Did some of the Googlz, and unscrewed the foot of it. There was a fair bit of gunk wrapped around the impeller, which I picked out with tweezers. Then, set in a 50% vinegar solution, and let it run at 140F x 30mins.
Seems to be running just fine now. This is the first maintenance/cleaning I've done, so thought I should throw it out there as a PSA.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -
@caliking Great job solving your issue.
In my case, with mild ocd I disassemble, wipe and dry after every use. Even keep the plug prongs cap on

Your “mild” OCD is like saying @caliking has a “mild” garlic addiction. As someone who insists on consistency placement of things like coaster and Kleenex box placement in my living room, I feel justified in poking fun.Canugghead said:@caliking Great job solving your issue.

I like your MacGyver’d setup. Creative, as usual. My Anova’s impeller often rubs the housing, creating an annoying noise. Haven’t looked into a fix, but I bet there’s one out there. I’ve only tried bending the impeller rod, which has been successful in some instances. -
My previous Anova had the same problem that needed occasional shaft bending.canuckland

Update:
Got in touch with Anova and followed support's advice...logged off app, deleted app, waited about 20 min, reinstalled app, logged back in, powered up unit. Voila! Thanks again Anova, my apology for earlier negative review.canuckland
