The stated game is to flood the zone, overwhelm the opposition (courts and judges) and grab as much as you can before you are paddled for being such a petulant child.

The latest on the "Art of the Deal" and how CHEETO is playing a losing hand of his own dealing:

"The White House has been “hopelessly bluffed” by the Kremlin. “They asked for a 30-day, frontline-wide ceasefire, without conditions. On Tuesday, they got … a relatively small prisoner swap, hockey matches, more talks, and … a month-long mutual pause on attacks against ‘energy infrastructure.’ … Trump felt he could either persuade, coax, or outsmart Putin. He has yet to do any of that. He has palpably lost in their first direct diplomatic face-off. For millions of Ukrainians his next choice defines their lives. Does he lose interest, apply pressure, or again provide concessions? It is a dizzying prospect.”

I was reminded from another source today that "attacks against energy infrastructure" was already agreed to, by the russian federation, when they signed the Geneva Conventions.
Apparently putin took note of what both Canada and Mexico did to appease Orange Mussolini: promise him to start doing something they were already doing (or not doing, as in putin's case) so that he could claim a victory and move on to other things.

Or it could be considered that in the past year or so Ukraine has become increasingly successful attacking Russian oil refineries as far inland as Moscow. In the past month or so Ukraine has started using a modified Neptune antiship missile to attack such targets. The range is 2000 kilometers.

Who knows as CHEETO presses on: (From Next Draft-not my writing):

"I worry that in a few months we'll be reading a lot of stories about another major hit to the American economy: a drop-off in international tourism. The warnings are already coming.
NPR: "Some European countries, as well as Canada, are warning their citizens who travel to the United States to strictly follow the country's entry rules or risk detention as the Trump administration cracks down on immigration enforcement." And The GuardianUS tourism industry faces drop-off as immigration agenda deters travellers. There are the fears around detention risks, but the bigger numbers will be around those for whom the American brand is losing its luster.

+ Travel abroad from the US might pick up. At least one way traffic. "In February, Trump proposed that America start offering a U.S. 'gold card' for $5 million ... But if Trump expects a flood of takers, he has it backwards: The international rich aren’t trying to come here, so much as Americans are trying to get out. U.S. citizens now represent the majority of clients looking for an exit, through foreign citizenship, permanent residence, or a visa that allows them to live abroad." The Atlantic (Gift Article): Americans Are Buying an Escape Plan."

    TRUMP ADMINISTRATION LITIGATION

"A federal judge yesterday issued a preliminary injunction barring senior officials at the Education Department and the Office of Personnel Management from sharing sensitive data with DOGE and Musk while a privacy lawsuit is pending. Zach Montague reports for the New York Times.

The Trump administration yesterday declared that the disclosure of any further information about three flights of Venezuelan migrants it sent to El Salvador would jeopardize state secrets, stating that the court reviewing the challenge to the deportation “has all the facts it needs to address the compliance issues before it.” Alan Feuer and Charlie Savage report for the New York Times.

Acting Solicitor General Sarah M. Harris yesterday filed an emergency appeal asking the U.S. Supreme Court to block a federal judge’s ruling requiring the administration to rehire about 16,000 federal workers at a half-dozen agencies. Justin Jouvenal reports for the Washington Post.

Lawyers hired by the Venezuelan government yesterday asked the Salvadoran Supreme Court of Justice to evaluate the legality of the detention of the Venezuelans the United States sent to the mega-prison in El Salvador. Merlin Delcid and Michael Rios report for CNN.

A teachers union and the NAACP, along with others, yesterday filed two lawsuits challenging the Trump administration’s effort to dismantle the Department of Education. Alan Blinder and Michael C. Bender report for the New York Times."

Never thought I’d hear a Speaker of the House say this.

“We do have authority over the federal courts,” Johnson said in a press conference Tuesday. “We can eliminate an entire district court. We do have power over funding over the courts and all these other things. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and Congress is going to act.”

    TRUMP ADMINISTRATION LITIGATION

The Trump administration cannot resume summary deportations of migrants under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 authority until a judgment on the move’s constitutionality is handed down, a federal appeals court ruled yesterday. Hassan Ali Kanu reports for POLITICO.

The Trump administration yesterday filed an appeal asking the Supreme Court to allow it to go forward with planned cuts of hundreds of millions of dollars for teacher training as part of its crackdown on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Andrew Chung reports for Reuters.

A federal appeals court yesterday temporarily blocked a district court from directing Elon Musk and DOGE to turn over records and testify about efforts to slash the federal government size, suggesting that the lower court must first rule on the Trump administration’s motion to dismiss the case before allowing discovery. Ella Lee reports for the Hill.

A federal judge yesterday extended a temporary block on the Trump administration’s efforts to fire probationary workers for five more days, stating that he needed more time to determine whether the halt should apply country-wide or be restricted to the plaintiff states while the case proceeds. Eileen Sullivan reports for the New York Times.

Voice of America Director Michael Abramowitz yesterday sued the Trump administration over its attempt to dismantle the government-funded media outlet. Katherine Long reports for POLITICO.

A group of federal employees dismissed over their involvement in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives have brought a class action complaint against the Trump administration before the Merit Systems Protection Board. Alexandra Olson reports for AP News.

A federal judge yesterday sharply rejected the Trump administration request that she recuse herself from deciding a challenge to the Perkins Coie executive order, stating that the DOJ’s bid to remove her was “designed to impugn the integrity of the federal judicial system.” Tierney Sneed reports for CNN."

that is a very interesting way to tax corporations.

step 1) charge tariffs to suppliers outside of u.s. (raw materials, parts, the whole enchilada)
step 2) u.s. companies pay higher prices for those supplies parts etc
step 3). u.s. companies keep avoiding taxes but can’t raise prices. so there is margin squeeze from higher costs to produce.
step 4) TBD—  have you ever seen a ceo or c-suites say “hey, let’s cut costs with furloughs at the top, the front line workers can do without us for a while until the margins come back”. or do you typically see short term margin squeezes impact workers with layoffs until longer plays can impact the financials?

so the whole “biden is bad for business because he is asking corporations and high income people to pay more taxes” is happening in a new way.

maybe cutting regulations and environmental concerns for automakers will help them reduce costs.

how’s that for a trade, guess it works for china
