My neighbour brought this bottle over and asked me if I knew anything about it? I told her I knew some people that might help with its value?

Edit: I’m assuming it’s empty?A quick Google search has me believing that this is probably from the mid-50s.Here is a very similar example:

Beam had a lot of those type decanters in the 70s. That’s about all I know. I don’t think there’s any real value in them but I may be wrong.@GrateEggspectations nice find~ John - Formerly known as ColtsFan - https://www.instagram.com/hoosier_egger

Tax seal unbroken is even better. Loss of 20% on a bottle that old is the Angel’s Cut. Evaporation is normal

Jim Beam has never been a great sippin bourbon. I too have some inherited JB decanters from the1950’s-60s
. Probably the strangest of all of them it’s one shaped like a cannon. It also is brown and covered with some gold leaf, Since I really doubt the value I just plan to leave it in a box in my basement for my estate executor to find, get excited and then discover it MIGHT bring 5 bucks!

Worthless without the neck pour.

I deep dove a bourbon hoard in the last year-
broken seal means value is much lower
the value of that bottle is in the family stories that will be told around it. Tell your friend to keep it on their shelf for honored guests.Large BGE and Medium BGE

Kind of like the wax seal on Maker’s Mark. A marketing ploy to make a cheap bourbon become an expensive bourbon.Cool to look at, but unless it has been in a barrel that long, the price might not pass $20.00, (based on the collectible bourbon auctions we see around here in bourbon country, frequently)You see all the art deco decanters at flea markets around here, and the right Rube, will pay stupid money, to get that one that looks like an old car.Drink the bourbon."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

So like you said I’m glad I knocked off my Jim Beam cannon decanter 45 years ago. Now I need some rube to come along and pay my executor $20 instead of $5…OH CRAP!!!! If my executor is selling it why will I even care???YukonRon said:Kind of like the wax seal on Maker’s Mark.
