Yakitori Grill

Anyone have/ have an opinion on those Yakitori Grills that the Meat Church guy had on his Facebook the other day? They are made by Mill Scale Metalworks out of Lockhart. It seems like it would taste like cooking over a campfire. Something about cooking a steak over a campfire can’t be beat IMO.

They are a solid unit for sure , and “ fat smoke” is far different than smoked foods , that being said ,direct fire cooking is super simple to DIY and it’s a cooler that probably won’t get used a lot … my Santa Maria is lined with fire brick and I use it like a Yakitori , growing up, we just used bricks and coals on the ground

That's not what I would consider a true yakitori grill. I'll agree with their statement tho - "Our yakitori grill is a central-Texas take on a traditional Japanese grilling style." Uh…$2300 for the full kit for a 14” grill. That be a hard no for me.cool looking rig though but no way I would spend anywhere near that for a tiny hibachiKeepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

I've had my eye on this for quite a while. Don't know why i haven't pulled the trigger yet. I imagine you could leave the griddle/grate off, and use it for yakitori.

Edit: upon closer inspection, I'm not so sure about the V-shaped part of it that holds the charcoal. i would have preferred a rectangular boxy type of structure.
Which brings me to what I should have recommended first... the Weber Go Anywhere (charcoal). Powerhouse of a grill for the price, and so versatile. The Lodge Sportsman would have been the second.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

i couldnt build it for that in my shop unless it was a full production job. i would do it for 5k maybe and i would still lose on the first one.
