Man something is broken in whatever Vanilla installation is on this forum. It has this tendency to insert large gaps of white space in the oddest locations."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

Everyone knows the knee pit is the ultimate in pit fetishism. Didn’t you watch Ally McBeal?JohnInCarolina said:

Wondering how much higher wheat can climb. Futures have it near $11 per bushel. 3 bushels to make 100# of flour. That’s $33/CWT before milling and transportation. Groceries are gonna become stupid expensive

What is the usual cost of wheat? I have no baseline for your numbers.ColbyLang said:Wondering how much higher wheat can climb. Futures have it near $11 per bushel. 3 bushels to make 100# of flour. One year ago I paid $17 per CWT for flour delivered to my bakery. At that point, wheat was at $5 per bushel. This is the highest it’s been maybe ever. I’m under contract at $33.10 for April May and June. I booked a million pounds and got a minor discount. I’m concerned as to what it will be when I book beyond my contract.Ozzie_Isaac said:

@alaskanassasin assume you are growing soft red which I think primary use is crackers or low gluten applications? ColbyLang is using likely hard red?
-
Yes we are growing SRW. There has never been much profit in wheat for me, the money is better with the double crop beans. Since we have a killer wheat price the double crops probably won’t catch a rain and will be terrible. Because it’s always something.

Correct, hard red on our bread flour (13.25% protein level) for the big silo. Do use a blend of hard and soft for a lower protein emergency preparedness product we make for you preppers out there. That’s in our 50,000# horizontal silo.FarmingPhD said:@alaskanassasin assume you are growing soft red which I think primary use is crackers or low gluten applications? My wife is indicating that we are going to head to the boat after breakfast then do whatever she tells me to do.
