Kamado Joe Struggle

I would go with Primo XL too if I'm starting over. Perhaps even better if they make it with two upper and two lower vents, kind of like PK Grill.Mr1egg said:I have a bge and decided to go bigger, almost bought an xl or a big joe. Ended up buying a primo xl and haven’t regretted a thing. By far the best shape and design. Think about it, imagine a regular bbq which is circular in shape, stupid right?Primo will be up and coming in the near future with all the other kamados following suit I believe.canuckland -

I would go Komodo Kamado if I started over. Those things are beautiful and built to last a dynasty.
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

If you dont want to worry about parts cracking you should check out the weber kamados. I have had eggs and KJs and got sick of doing warranty claims so I sold them all and bought the weber and it cooks the same but wont break. It also has a push button gas assist start and the easy ash system they have on the better kettles.

I started with and xl 10 years ago. We like to host and have 3 kids so needed the size. There are times it was too much though so went with a Joe Jr. For just cooking for two when kids don't want to eat what we are or wife and daughter are gone for the weekend at a dance comp. Both cook very well. From a brand standpoint, I would cook on either.
The forum is an interesting place. I second following the "What are you cheffing Dr" thread. Lots of good stuff and not much for trolling. There are a number of trolls and troll accounts and you just skip past those comments. You never know what thread the trolls will go to battle in so don't take it personal. Search function is for sure your friend. SO many threads to find what you need. -

I think you mean, if you could *afford* another ceramic kamado. -
You could always try joining the kamado Joe forum and seeing which one they think you should choose.

The funny thing, the entire thread name is trolling!! It is an inside forum joke aimed squarely at an individual.BigGreenKev said:. I second following the "What are you cheffing Dr" thread. Lots of good stuff and not much for trolling.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

To clear the air and hopefully make myself clearer.I came here simply to try and find any justification for selling my KJ and purchasing a BGE. I actually believed here on the BGE forum some of you guys would have actual insight from years of experience. I actually believed I could get some truth. I mean, this is the BGE main forum, right? That Primo video was very interesting but I don’t know how practically I could apply it.So, my conclusion is this. Stay with the KJ Big Joe ll I already have and be even more patient on getting the replacement parts. That truly is the logical decision. In spite of what some of you said, whether it was disrespectful or vulgar, you helped formulate my decision. I am good with my decision. Thank you! I forgive all of you for any post that was meant to hurt, make fun of or degrade me.I won’t be viewing this thread any more.

Does he have another video where he talks about leaving the Eggheadforum because JIC ruined it?nolaegghead said:I think the BGE does survive a kiln better than a KJ, but that's not anything we put our kamados through unless there's a house fire. Real world ceramic performance is another story, although I don't know who's better....just about everyone has had some ceramic component crack.Personally I like the idea of shipped warranty service so I don't have to haggle/deal with small shop owners trying to avoid warranty service, or minimizing their cost by getting parts on the "next" delivery which could be months.Just to be devil's advocate (not that I have an opinion either way)...Either way good riddance to YouTube spammers -

Best part about that for me was getting to meet @Mickey in person the next year, and having him tell me how his whole family watched it and thought it was hilarious. And also that he was going to need to return the golf cart…Ozzie_Isaac said:"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike
