    My grandpa was a sailor on the USS Pensacola. Injured/survived Iwo Jima attack (If I remember correctly)

    That's great, I had no idea the Navy was so old.  Makes sense, we Europeans and other non-natives couldn't fly here back then.

    posted the right carrier, wrong deck, the hurricane deck in the first pic was altered later (i think that is what they called the new deck)  now why is it now parked in corpus christi, this boat was manned by massholes from newengland. im blaming the kennedys


    i can see why they changed the deck, how did they land on that thing

    Cap would refer to this as a 'target'; we referred to it as home. Launched from Westwego, LA, in '72, and sunk for target practice by the Turks in 2001. As far as I know, the only shots fired were in practice, which is the history of most naval ships. Nondescript little sub chaser - "Fast Frigate" FF1091 USS Miller, named after a cook on the USS Arizona. His mother(!) actually christened it.
