I'm with @DoubleEgger, the OP @mdreb seems like a spam account.  We have seen it before, they get login info for old dominant accounts and post Spam.  They use it for advertising and market research.

    1. Ask innocent question "Have you guys seen this?"

    2. Ask follow-up "Why do you not like your current product?"

These two simple questions allow them to see how far their advertising/social media presence extends and then fans proved a list of ready made complaints so they can tailor their material to highlight competitors problems and their benefit.  Notice there is nothing else provided by the OP.  This saves them the time of actually reading the forum.

I have no judgement on @BSR .  I did find his heat transfer comments very interesting and they definitely do not look good for cast metal Kamados.  I would hate an egg with a 500 deg shell.  I have already touched a 300 deg egg.

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

I have to admit you just convinced me the OP was spam. Never even though of hijacking dormant accounts... I'm still not mad I saw the post but that does sound very plausible.

@BSR posted some great pics in a thread he started, not in cahoots with the spammer.

I'm not hard core team green any longer. I don't own any other Kamados, but if I do buy another one it may or may not be BGE.

That being said- the Slow and Sear kamado looks a lot like the vision, pit boss, louisiana grill, etc. I think you could get a similar Kamado for like $500 at Costco and without the slow and sear gizmo. So, I would have to ask myself if the slow and sear gizmo is worth $700.

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I'm not saying he is a spammer, but it's not abnormal for spammers to create benign threads to build legitimacy.

I'd definitely agree with that. You could easily make your own raised charcoal bed/divider.

C’mon people.  This is some straight up SPAM. Note how many first time posters are on here. The OP used a trademark symbol for Christ’s Sake.

@The_Buffalo it’s time to nuke this trash.
It is not spam my friend its an honest question. It was simply a cut and paste.
    Relax!

I don't post I like to read and enjoy. Occasionally I will throw something out there. Some people need to chill out its a BBQ/grilling forum for god sake.
I have NO affiliation with any grill company. I'm a custom kitchen remodeler
and a 15+ year Egg owner who was exploring options and wanted a few different perspectives. Good grief.
Thank you for the constructive input.

Oh and as I am not very forum savvy I did not have my notifications turned on to see the continued responses. My bad.

BTW, if you are looking for a deal, The Atlanta Grill company has some pretty steep Kamadoe Joe discounts.   If you want a knock off grill at least get the best knock off.

Still thinking this is spam? If not, I think that this poster was given a pretty rough ride in his or her foray into the forum. Just saying. As I say, we’ve lost a few good ones recently, either temporarily or seemingly permanently, to quick and harsh judgement.

With respect to the dormant account takeover theory, I doubt that anyone with the sophistication and time to takeover accounts is going to place their energy into lukewarm introductions of new products on a (relatively-unpopular) barbecue forum. If they are, they are absolutely horrible at what they do. Although if you have further info about this theory to share, including the evidence upon which you were able to categorically conclude this post was spam, I’d be very curious to hear more.

The PK360 is cast aluminum and I run lump in it wide open all the time. Pretty sure it stays cooler than the egg. I have never been next to it and noticed heat like you do from a 700 degree egg.

I am not sure, nor have I really given much more thought.  When your first post in many years is to ask about a BGE copycat then this response is to be expected.

This place is great for a lot of things.  A balanced discussion on the merits of the various Kamado cookers is not one of them.  Kind of like going to a Corvette forum and saying, "Hey guys check out this Miata I found at CarMax!  What do you all think!"

I hope the OP stays around and participates in other threads, but for that specific question, BBQBrethren would be a better forum.
