Stupidest purchases while on lockdown!

My hairstyle hasn’t changed at all. I shave my head with a double edged safety razor every morning (and do my face every second morning).
-
As far as stupidest purchase, probably a house takes the cake for me.

Bald is beautiful. I shave my mug clean

Frequency? What do you use? I’ve been through ‘em all, including all manner of Headblades and Omnishavers, but the DESR really takes the cake.ColtsFan said:Bald is beautiful. I shave my mug clean -

@ColtsFan: Whatever works for you. Use to use a Mach 3 then a Quattro. If you haven’t tried it before, give the safety razor a go on the dome. Once I started, I decided I’d never go back. Closer, with less irritation and cuts - even against the grain. It might help that I use an adjustable razor though and have dialed in the perfect cutting height and pass direction for each area of the head.

Bought this mask several weeks ago. Then find out....from China.

We were on that path when this hit. We stopped, hoping that the market here will be more buyer friendly in a few months. Kinda feels slimy waiting on other people's misfortunes, but I can live with it, with potentially 10's of thousands of dollars on the line.GrateEggspectations said:As far as stupidest purchase, probably a house takes the cake for me.Las Vegas, NV -
Cut my own hair though.Canton, GA

I inherited (and still use) the Wahl clippers my Dad used to give me crew cuts back in the '60s, out on our carport. If any friends came by, he would cut their hair too. Today, if you did that, you would probably get sued.

That’s not preying on other’s misfortunes. You’re anticipating the market will move. If you bought now, it could be you that takes the dip.Battleborn said:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -
We considered this, but our context may be a little different. We live in a very hot market (bidding wars abound with 60% of houses selling well above asking) that is also traditionally quite stable because a huge proportion of residents here work for the federal public service (job security). We had already sold our current house with a late June close date and needed to find another. We were thinking that at least in the short term, the market would dry up completely (which it has - no new listings in our target area over the last few weeks). Once it frees up, I expect that there will be a lot of renewed competition for places, some seeking purely to invest in real estate (“the new gold”). Guess time will tell how it all plays out.Battleborn said:

We were able to squeeze into an extremely desirable area only because there was only one other party bidding, keeping the cost lower than it would have been otherwise. Had we bought a month earlier, the home would have had dozens of interested parties and would have well exceeded our comfort zone.Good luck with the search! -
time to dig out the Wahl kit swmbo used years ago to cut kids' hair.canuckland

@rekameohs, Dad always cut my hair too (and my brother's). Don't remember the clipper brand, but I still have them somewhere. Not as good as my current Wahls, but they do still work, 65-ish years later!rekameohs said:Carolina Q said:... so I bought some Wahl clippers (not cheap ones) and guards and learned to cut the back and neck. If yours ever die, I highly recommend the Wahl Senior. A bit over $100 now, but a quality product.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I picked this clipper up last year. Night and day difference from some of the lower end clippers available at big box stores. It's paid for by the 6th haircut. Hard to go wrong with a nice set of clippers.

It was kind of the same way here, home prices were overinflated due to all the new business going on in the city. We are confined, by the wife, to a certain school zone. With 1/3rd of the Nevada's economy completely shut down and months to years of recovery following, we should be able to find a good deal.GrateEggspectations said:

Thanks Frank! Lucky is right. It sure feels that way to be facing a promotion in the current environment, during a time when so many others are facing hardship (assuming the job doesn’t fall through!).lousubcap said:@GrateEggspectations - congrats on the buy and best of luck with the new job.

Anyone shaving their head with a Mühle R41? Asking for a friend.

Doing it while isolated or on vacation is nice. You get to become comfortable with it on your own before showing the new look to others.Hoster05 said:I have said for years that I just need to shave it off but cant come to grips with it.
