reminds me of the movie Bottle Shock
Bottle Shock is a 2008 American comedy-drama film based on the 1976 wine competition termed the "Judgment of Paris", when California wine defeated French wine in a blind taste test.

What a mess....
Did any of you all see the map of the Kincade (Sonoma) fire?
Sonoma is just about scorched, 84 square miles, (74,324 acres) is what this fire has covered so far. If the fire heads further south and east, more of the best known wineries and vineyards will be gone.
Chateau Montelena, the vinyard that was featured in the movie "Bottle Shock" and one of two wineries that have their wine on display at the Smithsonian, due to being selected as the best for Chardonnay in the 1976 "Judgement of Paris" ( see @marysvilleegger comment above ) will be at risk as well.
Hwy 128 is closed about 1/4 mile north of Calistoga. I believe it is closed all the way up to Hwy 101. I have made that drive frequently in my time out there.
The fire as of midnight last night is 15% contained, however, they are expecting another "Diablo Wind" event today through Thursday, with winds (45 mph and higher) from the North and Northeast, which may push that fire south very rapidly. If so, Napa Valley could/will be in danger.
I have friends and clients and co-workers there. The Sonoma fire two years ago, wiped out several communities and people perished because of it. This one may rival and surpass 2017 in the destruction. The reason I own two BGEs today, is because of a client that invited me to dinner at his home and served food from a BGE. My Beautiful Wife picked me up and we drove straight from the airport after my return flight, and landing, to buy my first XL BGE.
Hoping for the best for those folks out there. Most are without electricity, and many are without gas for their homes. Ice is a valuable commodity right now.
I spoke with one of my field techs yesterday, and he told me that people are gauging how close the fire is getting by the exploding of propane cylinders for homes, each getting louder as the fire aporoaches. His response was somewhat dire, saying "it is not if around here" pertaining to the approaching fire, "it is when".
He, his wife and two children are under an evacuation warning right now.
Don't forget the area also produces some of the best olive oils in the world as well. They may have a smokey flavor too, should the trees recover.
Robert Lewis Stevenson National Park may also perish with the fire. His book, "Treasure Island," featured a mountain in the story that was influenced by Mt. Helena, where he lived and developed much of his writings.
To any fellow Eggers out there....be safe. Hoping this fire event misses you.

Congrats to Rogue River.....what an incredible honor! Merica!!
The Kincade fire is terrible. Can't imagine the worry and stress endured already affected or those potentially in the path. Prayers for those affected and the brave men and women in the air and on the ground fighting this beast.
