Question About Bourbon Barrel Bungs For Smoking

I was given a 30lb. bag of oak bungs (used to "cork" bourbon barrels). These things REALLY have the aroma of bourbon and I am considering trying them on a pork butt, just to see what happens. My question is: Is there a chance the aroma of the bourbon will permeate the ceramic on the Egg and influence future cooks?
Thanks!

Living in the bourbon capitol of the world, I am frequently offered bags of them, and have used them from time to time.
Certainly not a go to for me, but those that have had my cooks, seemingly enjoy them.
I actually do like the smoking wood from wine barrels, just a little better.
They are more of a novelty for me, occasionally using them on some hot fast cooks and occasionally a L&S.
There should be no problem for your BGE.
Enjoy them as would any other wood you would use for smoking."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Bungs used with bourbon barrels are not necessarily made of oak, the same as the rest of the barrel. Instead they are often poplar, which is a softer wood that is easier to plug in and take out. So you won't necessarily get the same effect as smoking with oak or actual pieces of the barrel.

I've used wine barrel pieces on steaks with great success but not sure I would go with cork. Can't really explain why but seems there could be too much random stuff in there. Bourbon barrel pieces though yes please!

I I have used chunks from Cleveland Whiskey many times and have not had any issue. Real nice on Beef IMO

I have used the Jack Daniels Chips along with whatever wood chunks I have on hand and the only drawback I see is, the smell of the J.D. in the smoke makes me want a Jack, no matter the hour of time or day!
