This is my go to blend.
I grew up with it at the local A&P. At 12 or so years old I would go in to buy a pack of Winston or Marlboro's (with sweaty hands wondering if they would sell them to me) and the smell of that freshly ground coffee at the end of the check out line was heavenly. I still drink it almost every morning. The Winston's and Marlboro's are history.

Dark Matter “Wake the F*ck Up” is my favorite but at $20 a bag, it’s a little steep to keep around all the time. I normally get beans from a local roaster, Little River Roaster. I then grind them in my Kitchen Aide burr grinder and either use my Chemex or my Espro, depending on my mood.1 large BGE, Spartanburg SC

Just kidding, of course. Robin has been a very good friend to me, taught me so much about cooking, which I know we both share a passion for, but also opened my eyes to so many other things as well.
Just as many of you reading this has done for me, and wilk continue to do so.
I will tell you this, morning coffee with Robin, will be one of the coolest effing things you will ever do in your life.

Sticking to one coffee is like sticking to one wine or one beer. A bit of variety is good. Here in the UK, I use a company that buys in batches of beans from small producers and co-ops from around the world and is fair trade for the grower. They roast it and send it out within a day or 2, freshly roasted makes a huge difference. I get 2 packs a week in the post, 2 different varieties (often repeated the next week). All are good, but different. I have a good quality burr grinder, grind fresh for each brew. An Aeropress does the brewing duty, I make it strong and use a Dualit milk frother. If someone wants a filter style coffee, I dilute down and add a splash of milk or cream.

This is may be controversial to some, but I actually believe that bean to water ratio is more important than bean quality, with most people using too few beans to water. Give me mediocre beans in correct (to me, anyway) ratio over great beans at incorrect ratio anyway.
I am no barista, but I get compliments on my strong and flavourful coffee from all who visit my abode.
I can make great coffee with average beans and a consistent recipe.
Grind size, water temperature, duration of the brew are all critical as well.
My weekday coffee is Zavida Organica that I order online from Costco.ca but we also like the Starbucks that they sell at the warehouse. Weekend coffee is from small batches, always different from a local roaster.
I use a French press, coarse grind (few minutes before brewing), and 201F filtered water.
We also always have a stash of cold brewed in the refrigerator.
Grinders.... I’ve tried so many but we settled on the Breville shown in the pic below. Static electricity is just crazy and ground coffee was literally jumping out of the grinder container and running throughout the countertop. That breville one is the exception. I think that the lid is somehow grounded or that there is some magic going on behind the scene.

The wife doesn’t drink coffee, so I’ve been making…don’t hurt me…instant coffee. My favorite so far is the Mount Hagen brand I get from Amazon.
When I’m out and about in Austin, I’ll stop at Houndstooth or Compass Coffee. -

Just ordered another 5# bag of Columbian from Dean's Beans. It will get roasted and ship out tomorrow. Arriving at my place Wednesday via UPS (ground). I have enough beans left to probably make it into the weekend. But why risk it?

Believe it or not, I drink decaf coffee (well caf in the morning, and decaf at night).

A local coffee roaster in my city called Twiggs coffee Roasters. Usually just go with there house blend. Brewed in my Bonvita 1900ts drip brewer. Also use a Nespresso for a quick latte or espresso after dinner or on the weekend.

We have now gone through THREE local roasters who either closed up shop or stopped making our favorite. Really frustrating. We’re coffee jerks who insist on our roast, grind, temperature, freshness etc... staying local seemed like the obvious choice...
so. We started going to Costco and buying the Starbucks whole bean, and haven’t looked back. dark, oily beans that hold up in the cup by cup keurig maker. We grind by the cup, essentially
I can take it black. Usually sugar in the raw..
brandi is all kinds of those flavored creamers you get at the grocery store. I like them too, occasionally.
