OK gang, talk me out of or into the XXL that has been sitting in the dealership for years.

Has a plaque that says one of the first 100 sent out.

The Spouse says it is up to me.

Looks like you have to improvise multi tier rigs and such as nobody makes them for that size.

XXL #82 out of the first 100, XLGE X 2, LBGE (gave this one to daughter 1.0) , MBGE (now in the hands of iloveagoodyoke daughter 2.0) and lots of toys

Tom @ Ceramic Grill Store can make anything you want. Don’t use lack of Rigs as an excuse.lol
If it’s a great price, buy it.

Why do you want it? What is it going to do that your other eggs can’t do?
  • For my purposes, I can’t imagine needing more than a Large - especially with a two tiered grate.

An XXL would be fun, but I can only imagine a few pounds of wings, or even an 18lb brisket would look pretty darn lonely on there. Good on ya if you are able to use an XXL to its fullest.

Before you add is the few accessories it is $1,200 of MSRP.

Timing is everything.  Just stopped by my dealer Saturday and their XXL is still there ( since debuting) complete with the serial certification plaque.  Price now $1200 less than original.  Currently at $1799- definitely keeps one spot of the store floor free from dust!
Want vs need in play here.  If you want it-go for it.  The pain of the buy diminishes over time.  Besides if not now....when?

Doc, if you have the space it would be a great addition for poolside. Sounds like a want rather than a need, but then that’s pretty much what defines all of us. Think of the entertaining you could do, and it is always nice to have extra grid space, just in case.....

You’ve made an empty spot by gifting the medium to unit 2.0.  I bet if you scoot a few eggs around you will end up with just the right amount of space for the XXL.

Inspect carefully for cracks before loading Her up, BGE had some trouble shipping those beasts without breaking them.
If you DO get it, you'll need a lot of lump and I hear there's a sale on Cowboy's...   =)

Buy it, I did.  Except mine is the newer one.  If I could have got the XXL instead of the 2XL, I would have.

I am with @DMW, I am going to use my XL AR in it.

Number 82 out of the first 100 XXL's.  I did not know this, the 2XL is lighter due to thinner ceramic.  Got the dealer to take another 10% off the discount price.  $1,475 off of MSRP.

    Pic tomorrow.

2XL is the same ceramic, it’s lighter because it has a smaller base, and the firebox is smaller also due to the shorter base. XXL and 2XL have the same lid and fire ring.

Congrats on the discount, that’s awesome. You will love it.

Of course we’re nuts - but we cook and that should make everything hunky dory.
