That said, when you just don't wanna cook, what's your best ever?? Best brisket? Best steak? Restaurant name? Cut? Size? Price?

I'll go first:
Dallas Texas: Lockhart Smokehouse. Brisket and Mac and cheese is one of the best in Texas ( I love post oak smokey with a solid bark but crazy juicy).
Dallas/Houston: Perry's Steakhouse pork chop. 9 inch, fall off the bone. Amazing mix of smoke and grill. Done ABSOLUTELY right...Dallas Texas.

This does not directly answer your question. I like to eat out Italian food, cause it’s not something I do often or well. Don’t get me wrong, some fresh pasta and a good sauce is a favorite. Cajun food is another one I seldom tackle at home. While I enjoy making breakfast at home, I love to also dine on that out as well.
More directly to your question, I have multiple BBQ places near me...and eat at them as often, if not more) than I do Que at home. Steaks, almost never unless at a really nice steakhouse. Generally, I not paying either.
Being a coastal state (SC), I eat most of my seafood out. I know there are some great seafood prepared on the egg, but just seems to be some good places I like, particularly down along the coast.
As for brisket, if not at Butt Blast or at a friends.....hard to find in my area. Mexican /TexMex is another I can’t find decent here. I thy to load up on both when in Texas. You got to give them that.
Thats what I got. Cheers.Ellijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

As @northGAcock said, cajun is a cuisine I let others cook for me; it's not a good choice for single people. Sushi is another; while it looks fun to make, I'd have to drive 45 minutes to SLC to buy 2 oz of very fresh fish, and I'd feel kinda silly doing that.
I'll still go out to eat for other things that I can make, either because its lunch time and I'm at work, or I'm lazy. I won't go out for breakfast anymore though; there's nothing around here I can't make better, and for a fraction of the cost.
This'll be a fun thread!___________"They're eating the checks! They're eating the balances!"

Some of you Texas BGE'ers are just looking for validation. The best brisket I have had is in Central Texas and the level of difference is minimal but there across a few eateries. I traveled well over 1 K miles just to over-indulge in your brisket offerings and will be doing so again next month. A week long brisket debauchery that is well over-due.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

You can pick an Asian region/country and Houston has at least a few restos representing each. Oftentimes, you can pick a place based on which specific dish you are looking for. Korean, Malaysian, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Schezwan, Uighur... And a lot more.
So we tend to pick an Asian joint when we're tired of cooking (which doesn't seem to happen often). But I'd rather eat a boiled egg the way I like it, with the butter that I like, and some homemade bread with a smear of marmalade, than go out to eat.
Caliqueen says I'm getting crotchety and cantankerous 😁.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

We don’t have decent local restaurants. This is a “college town” full of fast food places. That’s why I cook on my BGE 5 days/week. Pizza is the only thing we outsource.

I'm not much into Italian food but we have place down the road that is phenomenal. It's called Suzettes. Everything is made from scratch. The place itself is an outdated cafe of sorts. The food does the talking.
