Hi all, just gauging interest for another exchange. Post here or let me know if you’d like to continue the tradition. For those new since last summer, we have had a “secret Santa” type exchange for a number of years and we send each other boxes of our favorite BBQ products. Take a look at past show off threads for a look.

It sounds great. I have plenty of rubs etc but putting a good shipment together is fun.
-
I love putting the cool shipments together as well. I try to include something handwritten that tells what and how I use each rub/sauce/marinade. On time I even got a cool beer from someone in Michigan. This was quite a surprise but a welcome one.

Here's what the past few years have looked like:

To recap, last year we had two exchanges. One for the new folks on the forum, and one for everyone else. The "Noob" exchange had a 100% success rate. On the other exchange, the success rate was almost 100%. Many great boxes were shipped.
I'll plan to get it set up a little earlier this year.Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle -

I'll throw this out there since I am a Big Fan of anything homemade and I have received some amazing homemade product......I have sent as well. Is that truly allowed or is it to be all pre packaged ?Visalia, Ca @lkapigian

I'm all good with homemade rubs and sauces, sausages and such would stretch the the OK zone I reckon.

I think that is up to whoever is ramroding the show. That would be good because I have some pickled jalapeños that I like better than the ones that I can buy. Best to wait and see who I draw before deciding though.lkapigian said:I'll throw this out there since I am a Big Fan of anything homemade and I have received some amazing homemade product......I have sent as well. I’m in! I’ve really enjoyed participating and trying new to me things.Wisconsin, lbge, MM, kab, pig tail flippers, bear claws, and more rubs than I will admit to.

Appreciate you leading the way, @blind99!
Curious to know whether you're thinking about a minimum post or newbie draw . . . I recall there being some issues with sending/receiving from folks who are new on the scene or post more clever commentary than cooks. It's your show, of course, and I know how much everyone digs shopping, sending, and receiving! There have been some truly epic posts in those show-off threads! It's a 302 thing . . . -
Then it will be game on! With @northgacock 's expert assistance, and even more expert bloody Marys, it will happen. I'll start putting it together soon, with the official announcement coming.
@hendersontrking yes, we have had two draws. the noob draw honestly worked 100% flawlessly last year - no one should feel bad if they're not in the main draw. The big thing is that we can identify everyone. Yes, there are some people who lurk and not post much, but I could call them on the phone, go to their house, and vouch for them. And there are others who I assume are not 100% honest. If we can't match your screen name here with your Elfster name, you can't participate. We try to use our best judgement - it stinks not to get a package. If I remember correctly only 1 person didn't get a package last year and it was just the fate of the delivery system, not ill will.
@lkapigian i can send a note to your draw and see if they're OK. We try to go with packaged stuff so no one is scared of the sketchy stuff some of us would put in a box. like marinated but uncooked chicken.Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle
