You also can't directly link to an image by URL. Having to save an image first and upload it takes 17 more steps than it used to.

The photo uploading at a different angle is my biggest concern. It will upload upright, then I check back Later on and the image is sideways. I post from mobile as I’m sure a lot of us do, not sure how to fix this.

I'm sure you know what you're talking about, but I don't understand. I just made my first new post in a long while, and I uploaded the photos the same way I always had: Hit the "image" icon, select the image, DONE! It took exactly 3 clicks for each image I just uploaded. Hard to get easier than that!
Why are you linking to an image anyway? Why not just upload it directly to this website? There's no need to post them somewhere else and then link to them from here. Am I misunderstanding something?

This is driving me crazy, too. Most photos are now sideways. Most apps these days know up from down from the image data - what the heck changed here?

A couple of reasons...
If I want to link to an image that's already on the web I now have to download the image to my computer first. I really don't want to download the Orson Wells golf-clapping gif every time I want to give props in a thread.
The EggHeadForum isn't the only place I post cook pics too. It's easier to upload my pics to imgur.com so they're all organized in a single place, then directly link to them on Reddit, here, friends & family etc. This is the only forum I know of that doesn't allow hyperlinking to images.

Since there is no longer a Preview option, I don't know if this gif will actually work, but I was able to drag and drop from Google. No other steps needed. Don't know why it's centered.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

It also works if you just copy the image on the clipboard and then paste it, but I don't think that works for gifs as Q pointed out.

Well, it kinda works now. It's adding a bunch of flair crap from the host provider now though. I tried using the embed route multiple times over the last couple weeks and received an error. Weird.

Interesting- it appears it recognizes Imgur and adds additional embed code. In Chrome on a desktop you can right click, copy image and then paste it here.
