Cookout with some of my German colleagues. The cook here produces his own custom cookers. Pretty sweet setup.

Last night's tea. We have a typical rotation, so I only post up sometimes or itt's just the same old stuff. So, more of the same, Koftas and pork loin, salad, sweet potato wedges and pitta bread to accompany.

That was worth the trip over by itself. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.

I have decided I am not a fan of NY strips. Ribeyes for me

For some reason I struggle with strips. At reasturants if I order a steak it's a strip but at home I mostly cook Ribeyes for myself.

Those are strips I cooked in those pictures. Choice, from Sam's club. They were a solid medium rare on the rarer side, but lacked flavor bigtime. Had a good grill char on them too. Used some smoked steak seasoning I got in the last exchange that was baller, didnt help these steaks. Even the horseradish didnt elevate the flavor.

Strips are over-rated. I'd rather have a good (prime) top sirloin, farther back from the strip sirloin.

I agree with Nola that Sirloin's are the real deal... but I do love strip, especially when it's attached to a T-bone. Sometimes you just get bad meat.... I've eaten a lot of bland/off Ribeyes in my life.

Not a strip guy. I have some in the freezer, but they certainly aren't a ribeye

i like a bone in strip over boneless, but the internal temp is key, it goes downhill over 123 degrees. ribeye is much more forgiving over a wider range of internal temps. dont give me some fancy prime overly fatty ribeye either, a good choice cut is better

Marbling aside, I think both Strip and Sirloin are far more "beefy" tasting than a Ribeye...

last wednesday it rained, water backed up under the shop toilet. broke said toilet. rented a 3/4 inch by 75 foot snake thursday. not long enough. had the roto rooter guy in 4 hours on friday, opened a secondary opening half the distance from the toilet to the sewer line, sent the snake down 120 feet. somone sent about 50 hand wipes down the toilet. new toilet flange cemented in over the weekend, new toilets in today. a friggin week

Pro tip: lose the hand wipes and anything that will clog up the plumbing in the head.

these were super pro reinforced wipes kept in the grease and oil cabinet. thinking the problem is bigger than hand wipes. friggin clog was after a 4 inch diameter trap in a 6 inch diameter line

Look for evidence of employee anal leakage (there will be a brown spot). I've watched enough Sherlock Holmes in my time. Where you store the rags, put a prominent sign to the effect the rags are not for wiping one's ass and definitely not appropriate to flush.

I'm running over to Wal-mart over lunch, they have Mobile 1 0W-40 European Car synthetic oil on sale, and I like to keep a good stockpile on hand, as it makes my skin feel young and supple.
Something like $22/5qt. Should this be in what are you buying now?

That's a bargain. I feel lucky when I grab it @ $5/qt when NAPA has it on sale
