OT: Powered Reel Mowers
So our house is in the process of being built. My lot is a little over 1/3 acre about 15,000sqft. I have a relatively flat yard except in a few places. I'm thinking I want to buy a gas powered reel mower because my grass will be Bermuda. Do any of you fine folks have a gas powered reel mower? Any suggestions on brand or size?

Get off my @ss. Finally got Alexa working on my Bose Soundbar. Hell I been turning on / off lamps, looking up weather and using the remote to turn off the TV for years. Besides that, I don’t have to tell da wife to have a great day (any more) as she leaves for work.

I don’t have one but the golf courses use Toro or Jacobsen walk behinds for the most part on their greens

No lawn expert here but going with a reel mower will give you a great cut as long as you don't let the lawn grass get too tall (otherwise you need to cross-cut/mulch it). Owned a lot about your size in San Diego and went with the manual reel mower. Not too much effort but that was 25 years ago and not a whole lot of cuts per year given the annual rainfall. Those versions used to be so cheap you could get one and give it a go. Then decide if you want to upgrade- Sharp blades (like knives) and it was a worthy adult beverage or two or more workout. FWIW-

Zoysia definition: low maintenance, self weeding, pretty - but in the top half of the US it is the first grass to go brown in the Fall and the very last to turn green in the Spring! And if you have any trees then cut them down as Zoysia can't stand shade!

My Dad had one of these in the early 70’s (photo from the inter webs). It was self-propelled. At 7 years old, mowing the grass was my job. One day mowing the grass next to the curb, I hit the concrete curb with the blades. It somehow reversed itself and chased me across the yard before my Dad stopped it. To my embarrassment, I screamed like a little girl. My brother thought that was hilarious!

Haven't taken the plunge yet. May eventually but my yard isn't perfectly level so not sure how well it will do cutting. I don't want a patchy yard.
